lolahotass Posted January 26 Report Share Posted January 26 As taken from ESPN.com:The Oakland Raiders ended their month-long search for a new coach Monday by coming to an agreement with Dolphins offensive coordinator Norv Turner, league and Dolphins sources have told ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli.Turner will receive a five-year contract, though terms were not immediately available, SI.com reports. A news conference to announce Turner's hiring is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET in Oakland.Turner interviewed over the weekend with Raiders owner Al Davis, who fired Bill Callahan following a 4-12 season. Davis had spoken to five candidates face-to-face and interviewed six overall.Turner was 49-59-1 in six-plus seasons as coach of the Washington Redskins. He took the Redskins to the playoffs once, reaching the second round after the 1999 season. He was fired with three games remaining in 2000.Turner won back-to-back Super Bowls while offensive coordinator with the Cowboys and spent one year as the coordinator in San Diego.The Raiders appeared close to hiring Dallas quarterbacks coach Sean Payton last Wednesday, but Payton decided to remain with the Cowboys.The Raiders were the last of seven teams needing to replace their former coaches this offseason. Chicago, Atlanta, Buffalo, Arizona, the Giants, and Washington had already filled their openings.Len Pasquarelli is a senior NFL writer for ESPN.com. bxbomb Posted January 26 Report Share Posted January 26 thats alllright Let Norv go, Hes not a good HEAD coach , a great offensive coordinator, but not that good to be the head guy, As far as him leaving the Fish , well be allright cuz its not exactly like we have been Lighting it up offensively since Norv has been here, and think about it what is the Dolphind main offensive scheme?.....GIVE THE BALL TO RICKEY!!!, not much to think about there when you have that kind of RB only 1 legitamate WR(chambers) and a average at best QB.So that loss wont kill the Dolphins and it might actually give MArino something to do ,(drawing up offensive schemes) since he aint gonna be making any of the big front office decisions by himself Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
