All 3 DJs of first crew share hour slot, play what they want, show they can build off of each other’s momentum.11:30PM – 12:30AM : All 3 DJs of second crew share hour slot, play what they want, show they can build off of each other’s momentum.12:30AM – 02:00AM : 3 for 3. First crew starts this off, one DJ plays 3 tunes of their choice. After 3 tracks played, one DJ from second crew plays 3 tunes of their choice. This repeats for one hour and thirty minutes, with each crew rotating their DJ’s for each 3-record slot. Each crew must have each DJ play like this once before a DJ of the same crew can play another 3 tunes for a second time.02:00AM – close : 1 for 1. at 2AM the 3 for 3 switches to 1 for 1; one track played by a crew one DJ, then one track played by a crew two DJ. Same rule as above: each crew must rotate each DJ on their crew before any of their DJ’s can play a second time in this round.Vinyl, CDs, and dubplates are acceptable, but no prerecorded mixes (of course).WHAT THE JUDGES ARE LOOKING FOR:Is the crowd into what is being played? Do they dance or at least trainspot, or do they seem oblivious to what is going on?How well each crew plays together. Does the set flow well and build on the momentum set by previous DJ’s in the crew, or is it obvious when a new DJ of the same crew comes on?How well a DJ mixes out of the other crew's last tune, when there is a switch between crews. Is it a successful mix? Is the new DJ able to keep the vibe of what was played, do they perhaps increase the energy?
