T.O. & Rivers in a Dolphins Uni?

The Palm Beach Post reports an NFL source said Tuesday that Owens, the star wide receiver of the San Francisco 49ers, has the Miami Dolphins on "a short list" of teams he would consider playing for after he exercises an escape clause in his contract that will make him an unrestricted free agent March 3.

Now with Brunell and Henson out of the question, the Dolphins remiain mum on Washington Redskins QB Patrick Ramsey. Reluctant to trade their first round pick on him, it's not know what direction the Dolphins may be headed but have expressed intersted in North Carolina State QB, Philip Rivers.

From what I've read so far, they've more or less shifted their attention towards other QB's in the market. That's not to say they've officially given up on Henson-which they havent.. but the price tag that Houston is asking for a 6th round draft pick that hasnt played football in a couple of years is kind of high. All indications is that Houston is asking for a 1st round draft pick for Henson, a move that would defenitely be ill advised in my humble opinion. If your gonna spend a first round draft pick on a QB, I would do so with either Patrick Ramsey (who is a proven starter in the NFL and is only 25 years old) or Philip Rivers (who is a gem in my opinion and could be another Peyton Manning given the opp). The Dolphins have also expressed some interest in soon to be free agent Kurt Warner and restricted free agent A.J. Feeley, although Philadelphia's compensation for him would be more that the Dolphins are willing to part with. ( and who Im not too particuarly fond with in his ability, although he did fill in well as a reserved-I see him like another Jay Fiedler)

As far as T.O. is concerned, the only thing that really really worries me is team chemistry. As you've seen in the past, he's a loud mouth, flashy player that requires alot of attention.. The Dolphins dont really have players like that and the team isnt even built around significant superstar (except Ricky Williams, but doesnt demand alot of attention upon himself in the public eye like Owens would) T.O. a fantastic WR and we really need to take some load and burden off of Chris Chambers but at what price? and I mean that in the litteral sense of the word too as I really dont see the Dolphins being able to afford him and his lucrative signing bonus he's asking for. After the NFL updated their salary cap for 2004, the Fish likely aren't that far over the cap. The league announced late Wed or Thu that the cap was set at $80.5M, a leap of nearly $2M from recent guestimates.

I'm not intimately familiar with their payroll or free agent situation, but I imagine $7M is fairly easy to shed. You rework RWilliams, sign Ogunleye for cheap money today, expensive tomorrow, and it's entirely doable.

It would be nice though.

It was just announced that the Dolphins have acquired Philadelphia restricted free agent, A.J. Feeley.. IMO this fucking sucks big time. Dare I say that you can mention more busts that you can 'success' stories in the NFL. Let's start with Jay Fiedler for example, serving an apprenticeship with the Jacksonville Jaguars under Tom Coughlin and Mark Brunell and doing jack with the Dolphins. Sure he had a good win/loss record, but by NFL standards that's just clearly not enough. Would have called Fiedler that same success story at that period of time? absolutely.

Brilliant move this is not. IMO, this was a rash, quick decision made by the front office to fill in an obvious glaring, gaping hole on the offense. completely unthought of and believe me, for a second round pick this is rediculous. Hell, I wasnt very high on the idea of Drew Henson, but at this point, I would of preferred him over this.

And yes Im angry and yes Im hostile but I dont care.. the Fins blow and this is considered yet another monkeywrench in their grand 'scheme' of things.

What a crock of shit IMO. You call Feeley 'getting a QB"?

A.J. Feeley is defenitely not the answer @ QB and defenitely not the answer I was looking for... yet ANOTHER front office debacle from the Dolphins organization. FUCK THIS SHIT.. Im through with the Fins.

AJ Feely is good..us Eagles fans will miss him. He can be given some of the credit for last season when McNabb went down. But a lot of that did have to do with the Eagles stepping up as a team, not just Feeley. He's good...not worse than Fiedler, but not any better.

PS...we want TO in Philly! He better not sign with Miami.

The Dolphins need to splurge on an OFFENSIVE LINE... that's the problem... who is the hell is Ricky Williams to run or ANY QB to throw if we can't hold the Defensive line or make lanes for RW to run in.... we also need another WR... T.O... not sure if we have room for him & his attitude.... all though, he would bring some excitment to the Dolphins - hell they might even sell-out a home game:laugh:

Feely - not much to comment on since he's only played in 4 games..... should be interesting to see how he does....

btw, I bet Wannestadt and is canned PRIOR to the season ending:blown:

FUCK IT - LETS GO DETROIT LIONS:eek:

unfortunately T.O. will not be in a Dolphins uniform. The Fins cant afford his lucrative signing bonus he's asking of about 15-20 million dollars.. and Im sorry, he's a great WR, but I would rather address that position in the draft with the third round pick. Thankfully the WR position is extremely deep in this draft, one of the deepest that I could remember in the last decade or so. A few quality players would be available at that pick like..

Rashaun Woods - Oka St.

Martin Nance - Miami (OH)

D.J. Hackett - Colorado

Micheal Clayton - LSU

and maybe Lee Evans - Wisconsin

I was watching Sports Central last night and Drew Rosenhaus said if a player like Philip Rivers would be available with the 20th pick, dont be surprised if the Dolphins might pick him up.

i think TO will end up w/ the ravens. they got tons of cap room and could pay him good $$$. i don't think he will be much of a problem disrupting the team chemistry there w/ ray and jamal lewis there, plus it is also rumored that saap might be interested in heading there as well. that would make the ravens a serious super bowel contender for next year.

lets go bucs!!
