daillestmattyg
I went shopping around for estimates for my car. I just bought a saleen body kit(front bumper and side skirts) for my 99 mustang. I figured the car is 5 years old if i'm painting the bumper and skirts why not get the whole car painted. I went to several body shops asking an estimate on a paint job with the kit installed; 3000 for a full paint job from one recommended place, 2500 from a guy who restores old Corvettes, Caddy's etc. and some of his work is amazing I also stopped by Maaco....from what I heard Maaco does decent work but the paint doesn't last very long....how should I go about getting the car painted? And are the prices too high? Thanks for any helpMatt
laraver
I got an estimate for a Pantera I am considering buying. Stripped down to bare metal: $8500Most of the cost of paint work is the prep. Without a good foundation your paint won't look good. A good middle of the road paint would an acrylic enamel. Better than this would a urethane based paint.
