lafemcaliente
is there any type of birth control that's safe to take if you're a smoker? i keep seeing commercials and ads for them but they all say that there's a risk of heart attack, stroke and crazy shit, and the risk is increased by smoking. does this apply to all of them? just curious... prplhz
Yes, all are affected by smoking, you shouldn't smoke at all but if you smoke while on estrogen you can get into some real trouble.
evenflowcal
I work for a pharmaceutical company that sells OC's (Birth Control). I would tell you that while you are at risk, many, many, many women do it. Your chances of getting anything are very very very slim. You are most at risk for Cervical Cancer but if you get yearly (or regular) Pap tests, you should be fine. Cervical Cancer is highly curable. Pick one woth a low dose of estrogen. Ortho Tri Cyclen-LO seems to be popular now. Mircette is a good one. Check out this site:http://www.oralcontraceptives.com/And yes, cut down on your smoking. somebitch
i have a lot of friends who smoke and take birth control. my girlfriend who smokes at least a pack a day uses the nouveau ring. it probably has the same warnings as regular pills but you should check. shes been on it for over a year without any problems. funeralhome
i spoke to my doctor about my concern because i'm a smoker as well and he told me the chances of getting any of those diseases and what not are so slim.. it's like less than 1 percent and companies must print those kinds of warnings for legal purposes.. in case a woman does get sick from using birth control and they want to sue... so there's virtually no risk in taking birth control pills if your a smoker...
