With Krush, MaxxHaze will take an electronic music show to the next level as he did with the LTJ Bukem/Ming & FS show in April and the Vibe Oasis last month. For fans of the organic electronic sound, this show will feature the best music we have seen this year in Boston. Krush is a completely unique act in the way he combines turntablism with a flowing set of funky breakbeats. He starts with two vinyl records, but with the way he mixes and the gear he has, the music that emerges is often something entirely different (and funky as hell). Of course, he also mixes in many of the epic Krush tracks that have made him a god in the eyes of hip hop DJs, fans of smooth lounge music, and hard-core junglists. Matters & Dunaway has been creating a buzz in Boston despite not playing a public show since November of 2002. That's because they are one of the only American acts that produce electronica on the level of the British producers that dominate the scene. Their sound is a hybrid of what you would expect off of the labels Warp & Thrill Jockey: Boards of Canada-like ambient keyboards with uptempo live drums & bass. They have taken their serious organic drum'n'bass vibe to a triumphant, rock-influenced sound on their latest release, Hightech. Quintessential live electronica that will gradually morph into trip hop to make a smooth transition into DJ Krush. I will warm it up with his brand of psychedelic lounge music that makes him a favorite at Boston's only legal after hours, Rise. I’ll also close down the night with more uppity earth tones.Maxx will also be featuring the renown MaxxHaze visual show, interactive movies on screens on both sides of the stage. VJs Massta and Zebbler from the Glitch crew will be the ones laying down the eye candy.
