metafriction Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 I checked out Gypsy Bar over the weekend and liked it well enough, but am curious as to why it replaced Pravda, which I'd assumed was doing fine. Anyone know the back-story? Also: what do people think about the new space? Quote
groovefire Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 After so many years, all venues need a renovation. It's the same owners, much of the same staff and DJs, so it's for all intents and purposes the same place. No real "back story" to it. Quote
kaydup Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 I heard that they changed the name to fool the DEA Quote
groovefire Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 Actually, the club was bought by this family of gypsy women. Quote

metafriction Posted October 26 Author Report Posted October 26 definition of irony: elitist music purists discussing mainstream club trends.......Well, my early nightlife days were in Manhattan, and by comparison Boston's options are obviously limited -- limited mostly, it seems, to the mainstream. But I'm all about giving this city a chance, since flat-out dismissal of the kind you suggest would be both arrogant and useless. On a separate note: thanks to Groovefire for the reply. Quote
scavenger81 Posted October 26 Report Posted October 26 arrogant and useless........I'd say that defines the boston forum nicely... Quote
