howardstone
Can anyone here recommend a boxing club in Manhattan or Brooklyn to join?
havokk
Gleason's is one of the best boxing gyms you'll find anywhere. Right under the Brooklyn Bridge in BK. It's a real gym though, none of this boxercise stuff. If you want to train at a gym with real fighters than this is the place. I don't know if Church Street Gym is still open, down around Wall Street, but it was more of a white collar crowd but still a great facility. I think Crunch gym also has boxing. howardstone
yeah thanks, my friend mentioned Gleason's to me yesterday as well. I'm really just looking for a boxing club where I can throw on the gloves and fight with someone recreationally without all the training and other stuff, Is there a place like that? where you can just go and fight people? Not that I'm a tuff guy or anything but I think it might be a good stress reliever.
havokk
I don't know if the YMCA's still have boxing rings or not. I think most of them had to take them away for insurance reasons. Most boxing gyms are like any other gym except MUCH cheaper. You'll still have to pay a monthly fee to use the facilities. I'm not sure if Gleason's would allow you to show up and just start sparring with your buddies. It might be a bit of an intimidating place full of professional boxers. Try Crunch gym.
