(AP) The pink carpet was rolled out, the pinkspotlights danced through the crisp night air of downtown Orlando,and everything seemed in place for the opening of Paris Hilton'sfirst nightclub. Missing, notably: One pink-loving hotel heiress. Hilton arrived at one a-m, six hours behind schedule _ aftermany guests had left. At least she had an heiress-appropriateexcuse handy. The jet-setter says (quote) I was in the Swiss Alps skiing and Igot caught at the airport with all the holiday travel so I've beentrying to travel for the past 24 hours.'' Hilton's sister, Nicky, took her place at thepink-ribbon-cutting ceremony for Club Paris last night evening withhundreds of local officials, leading Orlando businessmen andguests. City council member Patty Sheehan presented a key to the city toNicky Hilton, in Paris Hilton's absence, even though aides of MayorBuddy Dyer urged her not to do so.
