groovefire
Friday April 1st: PULSE DC Comes to RISEWe are fortunate enough to be residents at arguably the BEST underground house music night Washington DC has to offer, Pulse Saturdays @ Andalu. This time, though, Pulse is coming to us.Joining Groovefire @ RISE on April 1st will be Pulse DC resident DJs J-Punch and Royce Haven. If you're not famillar with the names, read their bios, you'll be impressed. And I can tell you from experience, these guys are fantastic DJs and producers, and I'm really excited from the RISE peeps to hear what they do. So snap outta those WMC fogs and get ready for a great night of house music this Friday night at RISE, which, fyi, follows Armin van Buuren & Eli Wilkie at Avalon. Pulse DC:J-Punch is one of the founders and proprietors of Pulse DC. Musically, he draws upon his love for warm ambient sounds, dope disco, funky tribal beats, epic melodies, and tweaked-out human voices. Under “J-Punch†and his alternate production tag “Hook the Captainâ€, he has original releases out on Global Underground, Climax Recordings, and System Recordings. J-Punch has collaborated with the likes of Trafik, Shelley Harland, Barry Gilbey, Fretwell, and Open Air, and has seen his releases land on Global Underground CD's, and both Balance Record Pool and Billboard Breakout Charts. Royce Haven's music roots date back to his early years in NYC where he grew up listening to the electro pop, synth-driven sounds of the 80's and falling in love with the growing movement of HIP-HOP. It was in 1989 after he moved to DC where he was first introduced to house music. Royce is now a resident at Pulse, Dragonfly and spinning regularly at Glow, Spank, FIVE, all in DC, and plays other parties all along the east coast, dropping a diverse mix of house, breaks, tech-house, trance and techno. Royce also keeps himself busy in his studio working on an EP with collaborations from Samio of Yoshitoshi and J-Punch of Global Underground.Tym Ryan is in the lounge1:30 am to 6:30 amMembers $10, Guests $

groovefire
DJs interested in playing in DC sometime, bring a demo mix and give it to J-Punch, I can introduce you. He does bookings for Pulse Saturdays @ Andalu, and books DJs based solely on their demos all the time. These dudes are all about music, first and foremost. Can't wait for tomorrow.
