Boston duo Freespace have been spinning together for over three years, but neither Jon Q. Publik or Eric Orbit is new to the world of dance and electronic music. A chance internet meeting in 2001 brought them together and it was their deep love and respect for intelligent dance music that has kept them spinning together. Freespace prides itself in its diversity and openness to more than one genre of dance music, and both Jon and Eric have their influences to thank for it. Jon, a Florida native, was weaned on early progressive house and breaks. Eric’s former home, Philadelphia, is known for its foundations in acid and dubby house. Together, their base genre is progressive house, but don’t be surprised to hear techno, breaks, or even electro in one of their sets. Recent gigs have included Analog Lounge, Rise, and Europa in Boston, as well as Bauhaus in NYC. Come on down this Thursday to support Freespace at Vertigo!
