JACK McDEVITT

Jack McDevitt has been part of the culture since the mid 1990s; working

behind production company, United Tribe Productions. Having been a radio DJ

since 1996 Jack felt his natural progression was to become a club DJ. He

began playing along side DJ's like Chris Reavey, Yuichi Murakami and Shuhei

Yamamoto. All of whom showed him the proper ways of programming and working

a crowd. He started playing opening slots at their night Mission at club

hell in Providence, RI but after the night ended he had no place to go. Then

it happened. He got a opening slot at the famed Limelight in New York. He

drove his heart down there in the middle of a blizzard and found no other

DJ's showed up to the club. This meant he had to play the main floor. This

was the door he needed opened. After this performance they had him back, and

this began his career.

Jack continued playing New York venues and used the lengthy timeslots to

work on his style of mixing. It was in the Spring of 2000 when DJ Venom of

Volume Productions asked Jack to join his crew. Jack found his new home.

Having been playing clubs for years, the rave scene was an entirely new

world. This is where Jack found his new style progressing. By mixing

tech-house with breaks Jack was able to carve a niche in Rhode Island that

he was unaware had already been carved by another DJ from his hometown named

MO7S.

Jack continued with Volume playing at their weekly Energy and Twist, where

he was able to open for Mistress Barbara. Jack kept pushing himself more and

more, still playing in New York every weekend, and moving himself into other

small rave oriented weeklies around New England. Around the Winter of 2000

Jack met Midas, a DJ from his hometown Manchester that would later become

one his main influences.

In 2001 Jack moved home and started work at the family business never

forgetting his music. He met up with Fortune 500. They showed him the other

side of the coin. MO7S showed him an entirely different mixing style, while

Midas showed how through attitude alone you can rock a party. Jack kept

pushing himself more and more, picking up Rave bookings while still trying

to keep his hands wrapped around New York.

Jack has played with DJ's like Josh Wink, Andy C, Bad Boy Bill, Little Louie

Vega & Eric Morillo, Sugarhill Gang, 2 Live Crew, and DJ Dan among many

others. He has opened for DJ Craze and Rap on more then one occasion and has

always understood his place. Having played over 300 parties in 6 years Jack

has learned the balance between floor rocking and party hoppin and is able

to deliver.

Jack has stayed down to earth, always lending a helping hand to that next up

and coming DJ. When he is not behind the decks his primary focus is his

career and taking it to the next level, and trying to start a

family.

DJ RICK NAPLES

Neutone Recordings / Boston, MA / www.djricknaples.com

Born and raised just 10 minutes outside of Boston, MA Rick Naples found a love for music at a very early age. As a teen Rick would be found at many of Boston’s teen dance clubs checking out the scene and soon falling in love with the art of DJing. Rick had several friends that were DJ’s and would travel with them to clubs and keep a keen eye on how his DJ friends built up a night and send the crowds into mayhem with their music. Rick spent several sleepless days and nights practicing his new found love and would spin at private parties, school dances, house parties and anywhere else he could set up a mixer and pair of turntables.

1990 - 2000

In 1990 Rick got his first shot at being a “nightclub DJâ€. The Palace Entertainment Complex was hosting one of it’s massive under 21 teen nights (2500-4000 people) when they needed a DJ for one of the complex’s side rooms. Rick got the call and the rest as they say is….HISTORY.

Rick got offered the chance of a lifetime when he was offered to be the Saturday night resident at the Palace’s featured nightclub, The Bahama Beach Club. Rick held this residency for several years as well as continuing to be a resident at the club’s teen nights. Soon Rick became the head DJ at The Palace and began spinning at several of the complex’s other nightclubs including Club Oxygen. DJ Rick Naples nights at Oxygen were the first true “HOUSE†nights that took place at The Palace and laid the groundwork for BBC2000 which became the hottest nightclub in New England and featured Resident DJ Rick Naples & guest DJ’s from around the world.

2000 - 2002

In February 2000 Rick felt it was time for a change and time to move onto to other challenges. Rick left the Palace after 10 fun and very successful years and ending one of the longest reigns for any DJ at one nightclub in Boston. Once word got out that Rick was leaving The Palace every nightclub and promoter in New England came calling. Instead of taking up another residency and playing exclusively at one club (something he did for 10 years at The Palace), Rick decided to do strictly guest appearances and over the next two years got the opportunity to play at the best nightclub’s in New England including Avalon, Roxy, Metropolis, Axis, Pulse, Therapy, Vision, Fuel and many more. Rick also got the chance to play several guest appearances across the country including headlining a 4000 person show hosted by Playboy Magazine at Club LaVela in Panama City Beach, FL. Rick also became a big draw in the underground/after hours club scene where he spun at many of the area’s best after hours clubs.

2002 - 2004

In the Spring of 2002 and after 2 years of strickly guest appearances, Rick settled down at one of Boston’s most hip and popular nightclubs…Pravda 116. Rick became the Saturday night resident spinning PURE HOUSE MUSIC for sold out crowds every Saturday night for over 2 years. Rick also took up a residency at Pravda’s sister club, LaBoom spinning on Friday nights. Still looking for more challenges, Rick was one of the founders and resident DJ’s at Sunrise After Hours, Boston’s only after hours club night. Sunrise exploded onto the scene and quickly became the biggest club night in New England. Unfortunately Sunrise ended after an amazing year and a half run when a law was passed banning all after hour nightclubs in Boston.

2004

2004 was an amazing year in the career of DJ Rick Naples. In Spring/Summer 2004 one of the biggest and best nightclubs in America came calling and DJ Rick Naples had a new place to call home. That home was the world famous AVALON Nightclub.

For years Avalon has been regarded as one of the premier nightclubs in the world hosting many of the biggest DJ’s in the world including Tiesto, Oakenfold, Sasha, Digweed, Morillo, Paul Van Dyke and many more. DJ Rick Naples became the Saturday night Resident DJ at Avalon spinning every Saturday and welcoming guest DJ’s from around the world.

In addition to playing Avalon Saturday’s Rick was resident DJ for Twilight @ Mantra Lounge which was the hottest club night of the summer 2004 as well playing guest spots at New England’s best nightclubs.

2005 - CURRENT

As 2005 rolled in “House†nights in Boston were almost non-existent. In January 2005 DJ Rick Naples took over “Stimulate†@ Umbria nightclub in Boston spinning tribal, vocal & progressive house and quickly became Boston’s best Friday night party. Rick continues this residency today playing to a packed dance floor every Friday night. In addition, Rick holds a monthly residency on Saturday nights at Boston’s best “True†Lounge….Saint as well as continuing to play all over New England.

Even with his hectic schedule Rick finds time to work in his production studio. Rick, along with his production partners, has been very busy working on exclusive edits, remixes and original productions. And as if that’s not enough, Rick Naples is also a designer, installer, and engineer for New England’s best sound and lighting company, TKO Sound Boston Inc, doing installations at nightclubs and lounges across the country.

KARES

www.digitalgoodtime.com

Rapidly becoming a recognizable face in the dance scene, Kares has been enamoring partygoers across the United States as her infectious positive attitude envelops dancefloors both big and small as she drops her signature funky, progressive sound. Her innate ability to get the crowd moving stems from her long-time passion for dance music, and years spent as a cheerleader by day, nightclub employee by dark as she worked at several local spots. Spending most of her time in clubs in both Boston and New York City, Kares cites her initial inspiration for jumping on the decks as the likes of great djs Ferry Corsten, Armin van Burren and Paul Van Dyk, while crediting several dj/producer friends for teaching her the tricks of the trade. Kares has an energetic, refreshing style that fades the boundaries of several genres, from progressive trance to breaks and back through on a funky ride that keeps people dancing all night long. A sampling of the cities Kares has played includes Pittsburgh, Jackson, Memphis, Seattle, Portland, San Diego, Tampa and Springfield, where she held a monthly residency. This past spring took Kares on an adventure through some East Coast party cities “ New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and of course, Miami for WMC, where her gigs included the XM Radio-broadcast CSI Miami Party at Harrison's with D:Fuse and the well-on-its-way-to-infamy Plastic Sex party, featuring a Boston vs. NYC dj showdown. On the local scene, Kares plays a variety of parties in Boston and the surrounding area, and was one of the featured djs at the MySpace 2004 Halloween Party at Axis. She has appeared on several radio shows in every corner of the country. From manning warm-up duties for djs such as Icey, Baby Anne, and Simply Jeff, to rockin' out unique peak-time sets in various locales, Kares has well-beyond proven that from here, there's nowhere to go but up.

JOE BERMUDEZ [ www.joebermudez.com ]

With turntables outselling guitars nowadays, it seems everyone has turned to the DJ profession. With an onslaught of upcoming talent, it can sometimes be tough to be noticed in this ever-popular field. Despite all the obstacles, Boston based Joe Bermudez has managed to carve a nitch of his own. Whether it’s constantly touring North America, remixing platinum selling artists or being heard on his national radio shows; in one way, shape or form, you have at one point heard the talents of this fundamental DJ.

This California native started his career in radio and landed his first gig as a board operator at a WKZS in Auburn, Maine. In only a few short months, he quickly ascended the ranks and found himself as on on-air personality hosting his own show, “Kiss Klub Night.†Always one to strive for more, this young go-getter would continue his climb to the top and in no time, he was the music director for “Open House Party†with John Garabedian, a syndicated radio show heard on hundreds of radio stations throughout the country every weekend.

From there, he would move on and become the music director for a station of his own, the marketing director for a cluster of stations and now can be heard all over the US on XM Satellite Radio and in millions of homes on Music Choice in addition to his mix-shows on WAKS in Cleveland and WAKZ in Youngstown, Ohio. As if that wasn’t enough, he is also still regularly featured on Open House Party and somehow finds time to write for DJ Times.

Over the past few years, he has embarked on a career outside of radio and into the club scene. In only a short matter of time, his definitive style has impressed the club community enough to build a remarkable resume having already played at hundreds of clubs around the country. From Miami to Vancouver, Boston to Honolulu this DJ has been hard at work letting the world know what he is all about. From wrestling matches with Daniel Bedingfield to Steven Tyler hitting on his date backstage, Joe always seems to find himself in the center of the action. With high profile gigs such as Grammy after parties or parties for the NBA All-Star game and the Miss America Pageant, it’s no wonder why his peak-hour sound and smooth delivery is such a hot commodity.

This rising star has already had the pleasure of playing along side such greats as Boy George, Darude and the band Dream. He has released a CD on 4 Play Records and lately has taken on the task of remixing. His break in that field came thanks in part to Pink’s belief in him. This aspiring producer was responsible for remixing 3 tracks off of her album “M!ssundaztood,†which has sold over 10 million copies. Since then, he has had the pleasure of working with such industry giants as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Leann Rimes. His remixes have been used on numerous radio stations and have been played by such influential DJ’s as Junior Vasquez and Thunderpuss.

Chances are if you go to clubs, you will hear the pounding tribal rhythms this exhilarating DJ is known for or if radio is your cup of tea, at some point you will hear one of the many pop rhythmic treats he has helped create. Joe Bermudez is definitely a name you need to familiarize yourself with. Without a doubt, he is one of the hardest working people in the game and before you know it, it wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone if he were a household name.

Martin Jr.: House Music (Tweak. PVD RI)

Martin Gauthier Jr. (Martin Jr.) first discovered his passion for house music in the spring of 1997, after making numerous trips to two of NYC’s hottest clubs - Twilo and Sound Factory. These parties made him realize that he wanted to contribute to dance music culture rather than simply observe it.* Already schooled in the practice of mobile dj'ing by his father, he landed his first weekly residency in 1999 at Tequilla’s in Narragansett, RI.* It was here that Martin found his path, converting a Friday and Saturday night, mainstream music venue, into the only exclusive dance music formated club, in the area.* After playing there for over a year, Martin moved on to become a resident dj at “The Club†(now called Studio 3) in Newport, RI.* From that point on, he has appeared at a handful of the hottest venues all over Southern New England such as; Metropolis, Pulse, Therapy and the Ultralounge among others.* Since joining forces with “Tweak Entertainment†in 2002, Martin has been a featured dj at a countless club nights and after-hours events including, 2 memorable sets at the now legendary “Paradise†parties.* Martin’s sound has, without question, evolved with the times. You can expect nothing less than cutting edge, chunky, groovy, vocal and progressive house when he’s behind the decks. *“Joonya†now makes his musical home at Lot 401 on Saturday nights, teaming up with his long time dj counterpart and friend Ede Armand.* Martin’s musical influences range from classic rock to hip hop, leaving no time or space to simply name a few here.* He is a FAN of the music first and foremost and it shows, when he is playing, bringing a true party vibe to every gig.

Ed:e Armand: House Music (New Bomb Era, The Electric Club Cult, Tweak. PVD RI)

With almost 8 years behind him as a DJ, the name Ed:e Armand has become synonymous with the term "House Music" in South Eastern New England.* His success, in Rhode Island began, almost accidentally, as he worked part time at an entertainment company while attending college for broadcast communications. Knowing Armand's passion for House and electronic music, his employer, literally, dropped him into the dj booth of one of their biggest club accounts. With his background as a musician in local area metal and industrial bands, Ed:e learned quicker than most novice dj's and found himself the club's resident dj, for their weekly "Anthem" party, for over three and a half years.

Through that time he also maintained regular appearances at Club Starzz and The Emerald Room after-hours clubs. Later Ed:e would move on to push house onto young clubbers with residencies at "Home" (Zooom Lounge), "Plush" (Ultrlaounge) and his own series of all-night parties, "Reclaiming Paradise", "Return to Paradise" and "Electric Paradise", where he fused underground dance music culture with mainstream clubbing by showcasing New England's best dj's. His guest appearances have included almost every Providence area nightclub or, lounge and countless events, after-hour or all night parties throughout New England.*

From lounge to super-club, Ed:e Armand plays for the room. He brings his passion for the music and his brand of deep, funky, tech, progressive, or tribal house to the club for one reason and one reason only... THE PARTY!

TYM RYAN [RISE / SPIN CYCLE. BOSTON]

www.tymryan.com

Over the years, Tym Ryan has led all kinds of people on a variety of dancefloors to fall in love with electronic dance music. In the late 1980s, on the cold northern campus of University of Maine, Ryan DJed an industrial/electronic music program at the college radio station, using basic turntables without pitch control and fashioning his own slipmats out of felt and silk. As early Chicago house and acid house made their debut into the underground music current of the United States and Tym's record box, his stunning technical skills and instinctive track selection landed him behind the decks at the earliest warehouse parties and raves to occur in the United States. He and fellow Bostonian John Debo teamed up in the early 90s at Axis to host "Culture," widely-agreed as the most influential New England club night to spread the then-secret gospel of acid house. As one of the East Coast's first and best DJs, Ryan has always led the scene with his casual disregard for what's hot/what not, instead following his intuition. Since then, Ryan has humbly guided the dance music wave that washed over the States, playing gigs all over North America - LA, Miami, Seattle, Montreal, Quebec, Toronto - and Europe. Having been there, done that, played with (insert name here) and seen it all, Ryan remains unceasingly passionate about quality dance music and the pure fun that it inspires. Perhaps most impressively, Ryan's former resident club night, "Spin Cycle," was one of the longest running weekly club nights in the United States. The spirit of the night, much like Tym himself, focused on a funky, party-down atmosphere that aimed to have as much fun as possible in four short hours. In testament to Ryan's exceptional - but never snobbish - knack for quality, he was the first person to bring (now uber-successful) Timo Maas to play in the U.S., resulting in a two-year monthly Spin Cycle residency featuring Hope Recordings artists (Leon Alexander, Max Graham, Ian Wilkie, and Starecase). Ryan has a much-loved, fanatically loyal crowd - devoted to his tech-funk progressive selections and the dancefloor - that attended Spin Cycle religiously and continue to follow him wherever he plays.
