clinton
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------i thought carl was extraordinary. it was the best nyc set ive heard from him since the seaport rave, was that 2002? [i didnt see him at centrofly, i know a lot of people said that was great too]. ive seen carl maybe 20 times now. i thought he was in a zone especially the first 60-90 mins of his set. as you know carl starts off banging hard & doesnt let up. i thought the 1st 90 mins of the set was off the charts, i recognized that techy version of kurtis blows the breaks hes been playing. i heard 2 hours of his crobar miami set from last saturday i thought eh played a lot of different tracks last night. i loved that 'miami' special tune he played. his style last night was pretty much tech house, on the hard side of course. there were a few almost art-rock tech numbers towrads the end, best way to say it is like 808 state with huge rhythms. loved the techy side of things he played. really loved the deep progressive electro bangers he brought out espec 1st 2 hours. he started at 1 am ish. he finished by 430. with the time change that made his set actually 2-530. serge did a good job opening with techy house, and he closed with the harder side of that sound. although he played soem tasty tracks after carl, and serge was good certainly, he really doesnt play tech with the same intensity or feel as carl. of course few do. i liked serge's hard trance & melodic tech house opening for ferry in january. i guess her had to bang it more next to coxy. like a say a good set fromk serge but i wasnt feeling it quite as much as some people i think. coxys first 90+ minutes was extraordinary, off the charts imo. his last 60-90 mins was very good to great. overall especially for the first 60-90 mins, it was claerly the best set ive heard in nyc in 2006. my other top sets so far incl dj vibe at crobar, derrick carter at sol, sneak at sol & also sanchez & chus/ceballos at crobar. the best of all those was vibe & derrick, but imo coxy topped both, harder funkier more energy, 3+ hours that totally totally rocked me. while i do mis the 6-8 hjour sets coxy used to lay down at twilo, and there were some unbelieveable nights then, coxy was on form & then some last night- tech house techno deep progressive electro. im wondering what set in nyc can top last night....i can only look forward to return dates from cox, vibe & derrick & sneak 7 lets see if anyone can top last night. i think it will be hard. ***** of 5 possible stars i didnt notice any songs that coxy played at crobar in 2005 [i was at both his march & oct 05 sets]. i was also at avalon in march 04 imo lst night was substantially better tahn both previous crobart sets & avalon, but i was not at pacha and from most reports that was even better. id like to see coxy at pacha, but crobar is great for him imo

clinton
anyone who has heard coxy's wmc crobar miami set from 3/25/06 knows what kind of top form he's on now. he was so amazing for his forst 90 mins at crobar nyc & then he was 'merely' great for another 60-90 mins. i cant imagine anyone being there that night & thinking his set was sub par. what style did you want him to play? he played hard tech house all night with some prog electro deep bangers too. it was a great 3+ hours...i cant imagine what anyone thought was missing? clinton
why do people call him "coxy" thats pretty fucking gay imocarl cox spent most of his life in england. his devoted uk fans call him 'coxy.' carl was born in the west indies but lived in england for decades. he has moved to australia in recent years. maybe you dont like the coxy nickname but its what his english fans call him. also digweed is diggers. oakenfold is oakey. sasha is 'the man-like.' yeah i thought serge was a little off banging like coxy- serge is better playing melodic hard trance imo. but coxy was brill- best set of 2006 imo
