dontshow
"Drain Bamage: This is your brain on xtacy..." According to a London research team, regular use of Ecstasy can lead to long-term neurological effects. Previous studies in monkeys have already shown a detrimental effect on neurons in the brain, but up until now, human data has been hard to come by. The new findings show that Ecstasy users may suffer from impaired memory, even a year or more after stopping E usage. In addition, studies show a stronger effect on older people who take the drug, as well as those who do not drink large quantities of water while using it. The people studied in the most recent tests were monitored for the level of tryptophan in their bodies. Tryptophan is a chemical that is key to the production of seratonin. Those with more in their systems fared better on memory tests than those with a low level. Professor Valerie Curran, who led the study, told BBC News: "When combined with the animal studies, the evidence is certainly growing that there are long-lasting effects. We know it has these effects on the brains of monkeys, and human brains are not that different. It's certainly a worrying finding." sariman
It should be noted that the people used in drug tests for MDMA research have historically not be very "average" canidates. Most of them have used numerious drigs in the past as well as having other psycological problems. There are a whole series of tests that a canidate should go through before he is used for a statistical study on the effects of MDMA. MDMA in large quantities could cause brain damage, but there is no conclusive proof of this. As with any drug, asprin and alcohol, included... moderation is key.If you want some more scientific reading from both sides of the MDMA battle check out http://www.maps.org There is a really good real audio lecture from a Dr. Holland that I would recommend to anyone who belives in the psycological benifits of MDMA usage. BTW, I keep using MDMA rather than Ecstasy because they are two different things. Ecstasy typically contains contaminates from the manufacturing process where as MDMA is pure. Just an FYI.//sariman------------------P eaceL oveU nityR espect"Dream as if you'll live forever.
