cpnews Posted September 15 Report Share Posted September 15 Before his superb solo career, John Coltrane played saxophone for Miles Davis. At one of their gigs, the band was only able to complete a few tunes because Coltrane hogged up the stage-time with an hour-long improvisation. The press surrounded him after the show and asked why he took such a long solo.
