Get the funk down. Martyn (real name Martyn Deykers) has provided body moving, Detroit techno influenced funk to the dance floors since the early nineties. A love for Detroit techno, Chicago house and hiphop fueled his need to be seriously involved in music. When exposed to drum & bass in 1995, Martyn was destined to take things further musically and began to lay the foundations of his career as a DJ, producer and promoter. As a founding member and resident DJ of the Red Zone collective (with DJs Nymfo, Pressure & MC Jay), Martyn brought the city of Eindhoven (Holland) a range of quality drum & bass nights. Over the years, Red Zone events have become amongst the most influential d&b nights on the continent. With the promoter role well established Martyn pursued his career taking djing / producing to a next level.

Martyns talents are best displayed while DJing, providing an eclectic musical selection while not being afraid to bring new sounds to the table, even dipping into other genres, if the vibe is right for it, all adding to his versatility. He has played at a wide range of venues in the Netherlands and abroad (UK, USA, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Ireland, Norway, Luxemburg, France), not forgetting his various radio appearances such as BBC 1Xtra, Kool FM London, Ministry of Sound, Studio Brussels (Belgian national radio) and 3Voor12 (Dutch national radio).

Martyns vision of d&b as an advanced future proof musical form, is being realized by his continuing production; utilizing bleepy oddities, outside musical influences, and sounds that move him. 2005 marked an important stage in Martyns career: with his music receiving healthy rotation by well respected d&b DJs such as Fabio, Grooverider, Digital, Flight, Storm, Calyx, Teebee, Friction, Marcus Intalex, Lee, Fierce & D-Bridge on various radio shows & at live events. Autumn 2005 saw two high profile releases from Martyn: the massive nxt 2 u / deepwood which is the 1st release from DJ Flight & Paulas brand new label play:musik, and Get Down / Black Lies on Marcus Intalex' Revolve:r imprint. The consequence of these two releases was that Martyn was tagged as a promising new comer at BBC 1xtras Best of 2005 Chart (3rd best newcomer) and back home in Holland where he was awarded Best Producer at the Dutch DNB Awards. In March 2006, Martyn had another dual attack with Virgo / Missing Song on play:musik and I Wonder Why / Share my Wings on Revolve:r. I Wonder Why is definitely the track that separates the men from the boys, receiving extensive support from Goldie, Fabio, Andy C, Flight, D-Bridge and Marcus Intalex. After 4 solo-releases Martyn the remixer was born and he remixed Graphics I am Metal (which features avant-garde lyricist, Beans of Warp fame) for New York City cult label Offshore. In June 2006 he signed another solo 12, this time for Irish label Bassbin, Believe It / Cloud Convention, forthcoming in early Autumn 2006 as part of Bassbins 10 year anniversary celebrations.

Martyns production stretches further than the boundaries of drum & bass. His style received attention from Nomadico aka Dj Dex, a member of Underground Resistance (Detroit) who recently remixed Martyns Get Down forthcoming on Revolve:r. Full of musical ideas, Martyn is currently working on a selection of tracks, some of which are d&b oriented as well as house, techno, and down tempo inspired. With more soon to be announced projects, including a techno 12", it is impossible to ignore the impact Martyn is making on the scene.

His DJ work has become more frequent & far-reaching, with increasing interest being shown worldwide in recognition of his distinct style of DJing & production. Judging from the response to Martyns recent performances in the USA [NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Houston, Dallas, Boston, Washington DC], UK [scala & Swerve (London), Carbon (Brighton), Momentum (Leeds), Intrigue (Bristol), Submerged (Cardiff) and Source (Oxford)] and Germany [Frankfurt (Robert Johnson) and Munich], 2006 is set to be an outstanding year for the Dutch genius!
