*** In celebration of our freshly launched artist community website, we are proud to mark a year of spectacular events by hosting our first annual multidisciplinary open arts competition. Artists will enter submissions in the categories of visual arts, Live Music, Fashion Design,DJs, and Short Film. People visiting the Art For Progress website, will be able to vote for finalists in all categories, with the competition culminating in a multi-day showcase featuring the works of all finalists as chosen by the public – truly a “Clash of the Artists.”

To apply, DJ’s must submit a 60 minute mix CD for a chance to win great prizes for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place.

The winner will spin at Art For Progress’ Winter Music Conference event in Miami. Last year’s event featured top notch jocks: Josh Wink, Andy Caldwell, and Tommie Sunshine.

Other prizes include Art For Progress memberships, music production courses, and gift certificates for music etc.

Proceeds from the event will help continue funding for Art For Progress’ Arts Education program helping children in less fortunate neighborhoods experience the world of the arts.

awesome let people know....it a good cause. as a matter of fact we will be starting our first afterschool 8 week art program this friday @ the Grant St. Settlement on the Lower east side NYC....games for kids arts and crafts etc. . . . Visual Artists

Visual artists can look forward to great exposure on the AFP website and some exciting prizes which include a 3 year AFP membership, a consultation with an up and coming NYC curator, a guaranteed slot in the AFP group exhibition for 2007, and various gift certificates valuing at several hundred dollars.

DJ’s

To apply, musicians and bands must submit up to three tracks of their original music for a chance to win great prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Some of the prizes include: a consultation with a top music public relations firm in NYC, a full day in a top notch studio, an Art For Progress membership, a performance at next year’s “Music for Progress†benefit, gift certificates, and more.

Fashion

To apply, fashion designers must submit three complete looks of their original work for a chance to win great prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Some of the prizes include: participation in the Art For Progress Spring 2008 fashion show, consultation with a top fashion public relations company, Art For Progress membership, and gift certificates.

Film Makers

Film makers can look forward to great exposure on the AFP website and some exciting prizes which include a 3 year AFP membership, Apple's Final Cut Express HD, a featured slot in AFP's Shorts and Beats Festival in 2007, and gift certificates for supplies and services.
