Marty Petza aka Mickey Nightrain brings his signature sound of heavy electro house and breaks to the city that introduced him to the music. Known internationally as Maximus for his productions on Frankie Bones' imprints, Petza owns New Conformity Records, Saline Records, Nightrain Music and Rain Records. Born and raised in Baltimore, Petza attended many Fever, Buzz and Ultraworld events in the mid to late 90's where he learned how djs could create an unforgettably surreal night for the dancers and even the people just standing around. In 1998 he began his journey as a dj / producer and promoter and it was in the winter of 2000 when he produced several monthly events called Saline at Ocean City's Club Life. Brian Stillwater, Bliss and CircuitBreaker were among the djs playing the events at the afterhours club with patrons coming as far as middle Pennsylvania through snow and sleet to the desolate off season town. So the stage was set...

2001 saw Marty make an influential move to Nashville, TN where he would proceed to hold a 4 and a half year weekly residency at the city's most popular electronic music Club Excess/Orbit. Other residencies included Red Iguana, a downtown mega-club and other smaller venues such as Blu, Play, Outer Limit and Time. In this time he learned how to read tough crowds that were not as well educated as those in big cities which helped him tremendously as a dj.

In early 2006 Petza made the move to Miami to be closer to more like minded producers, djs and clubs. The move has proved to be quite positive in that he quickly began residencies at Zen and Sway Lounge while meeting a variety of talented vocalists and producers. The year in general has proved to be a great one for the 28 year old as his Nightrain Music and Saline record labels have gained international acclaim garnering them solid sales figures of both vinyl and mp3 formats. Marty's new endeavor Rain Records will focus on strictly undergound breaks and will celebreate its first release in late January with tracks from the USA's J-Break and UK's Afghan Headspin.

With so much going on with two sounds and four labels it's a wonder that his schedule can handle a regular dj schedule but he insists, "Playing records for people is what I love to do...there is nothing like lighting up a room with a monster track that instantly makes everyone dance." 2007 will see the talented producer take his craft to various cities around the world as a live p.a. which oddly in this day and age is how he produces his music. Samplers, keyboards and synthesizers litter his studio and you can be sure that anything Petza produces he can play it 100% live.

Be sure to catch a true up and coming American dj / producer at Shorty's and 1722 this coming weekend.
