Don't take sleeping pills, you don't need hard shit. They're cheap (about $4 for a bottle of 60) and I take two right after I walk out of the clubs (provided that I know I 'll be in bed within a half hour.) jillane9 Posted August 10 Report Share Posted August 10 I have had insomnia for about 10 years, maybe more. Sometimes nothing helps, it sucks so bad. It's not good to take tylenol pm/valium, etc., even though i do it too. the safest and most effective thing is probably to take a nice, warm bath and then get right in to bed. if you can't sleep within 15 minutes, the best thing to do is get up and do something, then try again in a little while. cause if you try too hard, you will never fall asleep. also, it's really bad to become dependent on drugs/alcohol to make you fall asleep. trust me! sirdante Posted August 10 Report Share Posted August 10 jill's advice is right on.i'd add... when you can't sleep and then get up, you should do something productive (i like to write) or completely mind-numbing and addictive (like computer games or infomercials). once you're involved in something, your mind has a chance to unwind. good luck, i know it sucks.btw, did you ever see the movie fight club? its all about a guy flipping out b/c of insomnia!
