Franchise 01 CD Release Tour w/ JT Donaldson

Friday, February 9 2007 in the Lair of Vision Nightclub!!

OM artist JT Donaldson is rolling through Chicago in celebration of his upcoming CD, Franchise Player 01.

From Amazon.com...

Only the best can be deemed a "Franchise Player" - Michael Jordan, Jerry Rice, David Beckham, Kobe, Babe Ruth, each one of them the best in their field and the ones you always want on your side. Well, we're adding some new names to the list starting with JT Donaldson.

JT is the classic triple threat - a skilled DJ, Producer & Remixer who logs countless miles DJing from Sydney to San Francisco. So it's only right that we kick off this new compilation series with one of the best.

The Franchise Player sound is the sound of the underground. This isn't music for glamorous ultra-clubs and their overpriced bottle-service. This is music for the true believers. The sound is deep and melodic but always tough, gritty and guaranteed to make you move.

LENNOX [Faderwave.net, DJForums.com, AMP]

Always a big fan of electronic music since the early 90's, Lennox began spinning at the age of 12 in Houston, Texas. After moving away from Houston a couple years later an unfortunate lack of vinyl in his new found city caused him to temporarily put down the turntables.

After moving to Chicago four years ago, Lennox quickly became absorbed in the local club scene. Noticing an abundance of quality music at the local record shops, such as Gramaphone, Lennox renewed his interest in what he started 10 years earlier. He quickly picked up where he left off and hasn't stopped since.

The style developed by Lennox is a mix of dirty electro combined with a bitof tech-house and progressive sounds. He does not try to categorize or limit his sound to a certain genre. Constantly on the search for the freshest sounds his addiction to music is never satisfied. His musical influences include such artists as D Ramirez, King Unique, John Dahlback, Eric Prydz (Pryda & Cirez D), and Mike Monday.

Lennox has played along side DJs such as Christopher Lawrence, Kramer, Chris Walsh, and James Lauer to name a few. He is also affiliated with the largest online DJ community, DJForums.com and has a weekly residency on Faderwave.net. In August 2005, he was selected to be Artist of the Month' out of over a thousand DJs and producers on MusicV2.com. Since joining MusicV2 he has had close to 23,000 downloads of his mixes.

His technical skills and programming abilities have set him apart from his peers and he has accomplished a great deal in a short time. Lennox loves to entertain a crowd and you can usually see him dancing along with it during his sets. His excitement and passion for what he plays makes him a must see performer!

TOLGAR [RaveTrax, Base10]

An ardent musician from an early age: playing several instruments varying from mandolin to drums; participating in marching band to rock band - Tolgar's history clearly depicts an amalgamation of musical sensibilities and his desire to share with others the music that he loves: breaks. Writing and performing freestyle as a hip-hop MC in New York was his introduction to electronic music. Afterwards, it extended into funky breaks and jump-up jungle while in Florida. Encountering artists like DJ Icey, Baby Anne, Huda Hudia, Rick West, DJ Trixie etc. and befriending many other DJs along the way, he was inspired to spin and began practicing on his friends' turntables.

By 2000, Tolgar was back in Chicago practicing on turntables of his own, spinning all forms of breaks: from funky to nu-skool, as well as spinning drum 'n' bass, tech-step and jump-up jungle. Over time, breaks became his main focus. Breaks, rather an obscure genre of electronic music, was sparsely showcased in Chicago. Motivated by its absence, Tolgar and his friend and fellow DJ JohnEVolution decided to promote it by launching Recess at Katacomb in the summer of 2002. Together with John and Marcel, Tolgar retained a monthly residency at Katacomb until they joined Chris Gin and Localsound's weekly party Hard Candy at Big Wig (now known as Four), as a monthly breaks event. In 2004, Tolgar left Recess to pursue his own promotion/record label company Base10 with the initial focus to cultivate an enjoyable environment in which to exhibit breaks. Teaming up with Local Hero, Base10 was invited by Bass by the Pound to run a monthly breaks party (every 2nd Friday) at Lava Lounge called Algorhythm. It is in its 8th-month-running this March 2006 with 30Hz as their guest. One of their most recent guests, Smithmonger, a breaks DJ and producer from the U.K. stated, "Chicago is in good hands. Their breaks scene needs this dude at the controls."

In addition to promoting others, Tolgar's own reputation as a DJ has grown. He has opened up for U.N.K.L.E. on Halloween 2004 (Pure at Soundbar); headlined in Seattle at The Spot (Pleasuretown) in March 26, 2005; that same year was ranked the 42nd breakbeat DJ on www.thedjlist.com; opened up for DJ Hyper at Soundbar, Chicago (Jan.'06); continues his worldwide-reaching online radio show on www.ravetrax.com - 2 years running; shares an internet radio show with Local Hero which airs every Friday on www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk; and is presently collaborating a live PA production project (The Grind) with Tod Miner who has produced tracks for Teri Bristol and Psycho Bitch including "TeenageWasteland" and currently has a track listed on the top 25 Billboard's Breakout Artist chart. Future plans include throwing and playing more parties, producing new tracks, and melding his experiences to create Base10 into a record label.
