Ritual: A Return to the Dance Floor on Sunday Nights

Giovanni Morales Presents his New Weekly Party at Rebel

It’s been a while since the glory days Sunday night clubbing. Gone are the times of hassle free tea dances and crazy late Sunday nights in Manhattan, giving you (almost) enough reason to stay in on Saturdays to save your energy for the next day. Giovanni Morales, the principal organizer behind the new weekly Sunday party Ritual, wants to put an end to that.

Morales has had extensive experience in the NYC dance music industry, including throwing a series of massive loft events and running downtown club Love as its General Manager. He’s found a new home at new Midtown venue Rebel (formerly Downtime), which has undergone extensive upgrades such as a booming new sound system, luxurious curtains and chandeliers, and a professional, courteous staff.

Thanks to all the supporters who came to Ritual’s inaugural event last week, featuring music by frequent Calderone collaborator That Kid Chris (aka Chris Starapoli). Don’t miss the fun this week, Sunday June 10th, as Miss Honey Dijon plays the musical master of ceremonies. An amazing roster of talent is lined up for the weeks ahead, including Peter Bailey, Tedd Patterson, Chad Jack, Elliot DeHoyos, Billy Carroll, Craig Mitchel, Phil Pagan, and Stephen Richards.

This is a true labor of love for Morales and his team, who are putting as much sweat into the preparation of the other elements of the night as they have for the stellar lineup. Designers are creating exciting new décor installations in Rebel’s main room, culminating in elaborate monthly themes. Surprise live performances are planned for the main stage, and sexy dancers will make the most of the two, old-school cages (Cages! We told you Ritual was bringing it back!). But most importantly, the party puts the focus on music, comfort and late night naughtiness over the stale door drama that has crept into NY nights.

This is no Sunday chore.
