weyes Posted May 23 Report Share Posted May 23 my home pc has been a dysfunctional hunk of junk for a while now, but it has become so problematic that i'm afraid to turn it on. i don't want to lose any data...about every third screen freezes when i'm using the 'net and i have to press refresh, cp always says "page can not be displayed" after EVERY screen but will post or go to the next screen when i hit refresh, control + alt + delete NEVER brings up task manager, the restart/shut down function doesn't work from the start menu anymore (i have to restart or shut down by pushing the power button manually), it takes about 8 minutes to boot up (it never used to take that long), and the cd burner doesn't work anymore, either.last night i tried to get online to post the column, but when i turned on the machine, all i got was an hourglass. the thing is frikkin' hopeless .so i'm about to order a laptop. i hope i can get it to work. weyes Posted May 23 Author Report Share Posted May 23 yay! i just bought a laptop from dell !!! unfortunately, they don't tell you up front on the website that the apr after 6 months is 24.99% . well, at least i'll have something that works.
