Klaus Hill’s brand of tough beats makes a charged debut on the Potty Mouth Music roster. For more than 10 years, the DJ/producer has split time between his native London, England and current residence of Sydney, Australia, performing for big room and festival crowds. Influenced early on by house, techno and breaks, Hill has brought his ball-and-wall tearing sound to two side projects, including 2Sinners and the Heavyweight. In 2008, he expanded his musical reach when he debuted his wobbly house chart buster, “Boombaclart,†featured on the Ministry of Sound 2008 compilation. Hill’s sound has evolved as a premiere bench mark for the fidget house sound, drawing influence from a cross section of EDM genres.Since launching his career in the late ’90s, Hill has held residencies at London’s The End for four years, along with HOME in Sydney, Australia and HALO in Hobart, Australia. He dug his musical feet in early with several breakbeat releases before taking on remix projects for DJ Sneak, Felix Da Housecat, UNKLE, The Beastie Boys and Jakatta, to name a few. Hill’s wide scope of sound gave him a hard-hitting versatility, attracting attention from a range of artists including Sasha, John Digweed, Jesse Rose, Plump DJs and Fat Boy Slim.Hill’s rise in fidget house began in 2007 with the release of his Undefeated EP. The track “Bang that Thing!†was signed to appear on the Maximum Bass 4 compilation soon after its release, while the ragga vocal of Spikey Tee put its stamp on his chart topping “Boombaclart.†The single picked up support from international DJ heavyweights such as Switch, Trevor Loveys and AJAX, among others.Aside from his production work, Hill is an in-demand sound engineer working with some of Australia’s leading dance acts. Hill’s recent projects include a Bomb Squad remix project for fellow Potty Mouth Music label-mates, HeavyFeet, and a collaborative track with Dylan Rhymes for his forthcoming album on Lot49. Hill’s future projects also includes another collaboration with vocalist Spikey Tee on the track “Slipstream†for Hussle Recordings and the forthcoming Potty Mouth remix of “Piano Man,†by Potty Mouth artists Scott Cooper and Andy George. The DJ/producer credits his success—and affinity—for the fidget house genre to Potty Mouth Music. “Although falling through the stage while DJing the first Exit Festival in Serbia was equally memorable,†he says, almost laughing. Since his move to Sydney’s EDM scene in 2003, Hill has crafted three mixes for Ministry of Sound Australia, selling more than 150,000 copies and placing him at the top of the ARIA charts. Inspired by the dirty glitch twists of fidget house producers such as Switch, Trevor Loveys and Jesse Rose, Potty Mouth ditches conventional house boundaries, imploring turntable trickery, unconventional loops and straight up techno into its catalogue of tracks. Chicago-based label head James Amato keeps house-heavy influences in place and lacing them with the kind of dirty glitch that makes it feel so good to be so bad. Potty Mouth's artists include The Crookers (Italy), Santiago & Bushido (Chicago), HiJack (England), DJ Fame (New York), The Bulgarian (England), HeavyFeet (UK), Cops & Robbers (Chicago), Electric Soulside (Belgium), Andy George (UK), Scott Cooper (UK), Mightyfools (Netherlands), Adam Bozzetto (Australia) + Many more coming soon!
