Techno :: Minimal :: Electro

November 8th, 2008

(2nd Sat of every month thereafter)

Featuring:

J. Rogers (www. blipswitch. net, San Francisco)

Following his placing 3rd in the UK’s Muzik Magazine-Bedroom Bedlam Mix Competition in 2001 at the age of 17 (as the only

American), Joe embarked upon a successful period on the Phoenix club circuit, playing all over and securing a residency at Club Freedom. Studies in composition, piano, and conducting began in 2002 at San Francisco State University, demanding the utmost dedication. A hard choice was made: the DJ world would have to wait. As 2008 begins, j re-enters the world of electronic/dance armed with a B.M. in music composition. "Before, I was quite happy working with 2-3 turntables. Now that Ableton has entered into the picture, a new approach has emerged-- we are now dealing with the possibilities of live composition.†J’s recent Ableton sets feature rapid-fire transitioning, layering, and sample-dropping across a diverse selection of sounds ranging from minimal, to techno, to house, to dubstep, and everything in between. It’s an exciting presentation not to be missed! Look for the first major release on Blipswitch, the Dream Again EP.

Forest Green (www. ForestGreen. org, Cute Fang Recordings, Cute Things With Fangs, myspace. com/forestgreen, Daly City Records, San Francisco)

Starting her DJ journey in the 1990's San Francisco underground, Forest Green continues to explore the art of rocking the dance floor, and mastering the mix. 11 years later, she continues taking things to the next level, amazing crowds with her high energy, hot bass lines, and soul gripping grooves. Featured in Groove the movie in 2000 on Sony Picture Classics, and tireless in her support of the rave as an outlet for personal and artistic expression, Forest has rightly gained fame as a consummately professional DJ and live performer, earning the respect not only of her audience, but the promoters who work with her. Expect to hear only the freshest jamz, as she searches high and low for the most cutting edge, floor shaking, booty quaking EDM the world has to offer, and brings it straight to you!

Beatpusher (Modern Recording Company, Portland)

DJ Beatpusher (aka Justin Knauer) began mixing records in 1997 after being immersed in the midwest party scene for a number of years. Throughout his musical evolution, he has been involved with many genres, including early trip hop, drum & bass, breaks and house. However, in the end, it was techno that struck the deepest chord and has been the primary focus for the last 8 years. After relocating to Portland, Oregon at the turn of the millennium, Justin was able to collaborate with a wide range of electronic and organic music producers and participated in an assortment of live performance acts, while at the same time staying active in the underground party scene as a DJ. In addition, he also found himself getting booked at various larger-scale events, playing alongside talent such as DJ P, DJ Z-Trip, DJ CRS?, and Evol Intent.
