At Killswitch, we're all about opening up ears and bending genres, so this week we're taking a trip into dubstep territory. Dubstep producer DJG of Narco.Hz & Blipswitch founder J.Rogers will be blurring the lines between techno and dubstep, while new Killswitch resident David Siska warms things up with his own signature deep and dirty style. About DJG: nbsp;** Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dean J. Grenier A.K.A DJG landed in the world of Dubstep in 2007 with his first 12" "Shadow Skanking" b/w "Joyful Sound" on Narco.Hz. Immediate support on Rinse FM and in the clubs from DJ's like N-Type propelled DJG to the forefront of American dubstep producers early in his career. High-profile releases continued in 2008 with his track "Lower 8" released on Tes La Rok's Noppa label, and with his track "Bender?s selection as Pressing Issues 002 by the populace on dubstepforum.com. In total, DJG had 5 releases in his first year as a dubstep producer. DJG's production style is richly melodic, emotive while full of groove and energy. Recognized early on for a more dubwise sound, DJG's recent productions have revealed an evolution in his music, getting deeper into bass-heavy, tech-drenched, soulful tracks like the much-anticipated February ?09 release "Bunker" b/w "Apophenia" on Tube10 and the forthcoming "The Gate" b/w "Obsessed" on Lo Dubs. DJs ranging from Mary Anne Hobbs, N-Type, Joe Nice, Pinch, Headhunter, Skream, RSD, 2562, Djunya, Random Trio and many more have been supporting DJG's recent and forthcoming releases on labels Narco.Hz, Subway Recordings, Tube10, Lo Dubs, Pushing Red, Blipswitch and Pure Filth amongst others. When DJG gets behind the decks, his passion for the music he plays is obvious. His enthusiasm for the deeper side of dubstep and his affection for dance floor selections makes each set a spontaneous combination of the highs and lows that the sound has to offer. About J. Rogers: Following his placing 3rd in the UK?s Muzik Magazine-Bedroom Bedlam Mix Competition in 2001 at the age of 17 (as the only American), Joe embarked upon a successful period on the Phoenix club circuit, playing all over and securing a residency at Club Freedom. Studies in composition, piano, and conducting began in 2002 at San Francisco State University, demanding the utmost dedication. A hard choice was made: the DJ world would have to wait.* As 2008 begins, j re-enters the world of electronic/dance armed with a B.M. in music composition. "Before, I was quite happy working with 2-3 turntables. Now that Ableton has entered into the picture, a new approach has emerged-- we are now dealing with the possibilities of live composition.?* J?s recent Ableton sets feature rapid-fire transitioning, layering, and sample-dropping across a diverse selection of sounds ranging from minimal, to techno, to house, to dubstep, and everything in between.* It?s an exciting presentation not to be missed! About David Siska: David Siska has been selecting electronic dance music for Chicago's airwaves, loft parties, and clubs for over a decade. In the past several years he's become known in global circles as co-host of the Chicago-based Sonic Sunset radio program, an acclaimed show dedicated to connecting eras and blurring lines between genres in electronic music. After residencies at some of Chicago's most respected venues, David has moved on to San Francisco, where he's focusing on starting his label - Remnant - to showcase texturally evocative electronic compositions from established and emerging artists.
