Founded in February 2008, Killswitch is a weekly happy hour dedicated to featuring the Bay Area's finest underground techno and house talent. Founded by Stap[e DJ Javaight and Black Market Techno DJ dCOY, Killswitch has featured DJs such as Alland Byallo, Dave Aju, Jonah Sharp, Sutekh, Clint Stewart, Worthy, J.Phlip, Drumcell,Todd Sines and live PA's from Monocle, Auralism's Marc Smith, and Perla.* With the addition of new residents Mossmoss & David Siska, Killswitch has established itself as an end of the week hangout for heads, techno lovers and party people alike.* Kill off your week with the sound of the underground at Killswitch. This week @ Killswitch: Jason Kendig (Honey Soundsystem), Silencefiction (Untitled & After, Qool), DJ Zenith (Tekandhaus) & Mossmoss (Nightlight)! About Jason Kendig: Jason Kendig has been rocking the bay for many years now. A former Detroit resident and current member of Honey Soundsystem, Jason was among the first to bring the minimal Detroit sound to the many dive bars, back rooms and dance floors of San Francisco. Once a resident of the Detroit club night Family, famous for its drama, scandals and debauchery, and being voted ?best club night? by Urb Magazine, Jason is sure to bring the deep and dirty sounds of a seasoned veteran. About Silencefiction: Marc Kate (aka Silencefiction) was born into a family of musicians and academics in Montréal, Québec in 1971. He bought his first Technics shortly after buying his first Chain Reaction 12??s, but really started DJing at art openings while in grad school. ?I wanted to play obscure European techno, while the other artists wanted to dance to Prince. Finding the happy medium was very educational. Probably the best value for my student loan dollar.? Since then, he has played to venues as diverse as Burning Man, 1015 Folsom and Trannyshack. In San Francisco, he formed the techno weekly [404] in 2001, the acid house revival party Jack in 2005, and became a Qoöl resident in 2007. Later in 2007, he formed the live techno duo Land Sound with Robert Crouch. The next year, he released "Lipstique" on Loöq Records, and founded the label Untitled & After. He is as much inspired by visual artists like Yayoi Kusama and Eva Hesse as DJ?s like Richie Hawtin and Ellen Allien, -- applying a less-is-more ethos while bathing the dancefloor in an ocean of sound. ?How do I create a track or a set that is both psychedelic and cerebral?? he asks, ?Or lush and minimal? Exploring that tension is what excites me about techno.? As a musician, he has played bass, keyboards and/or engineered for synth-prog band I Am Spoonbender, goth-punk duo Evolution Rainbow and dark cabaret iconoclast Vinsantos as a member of his band A Sixthe Toe. He has also composed soundtracks for performer/choreographer Monique Jenkinson and political circus spectacle Circo Zero and contributed music to Vena Virago's Vivid Alt film Honey Bunny. About DJ Zenith: San Francisco based DJ Zenith, aka Stephanie Blair was allured to San Francisco from her home town of Washington, DC. Stephanie was put in front of a piano at age 6 and has been involved in many different types of music ever since that time. She's done many things including the lead role in a musical, playing in a symphonic and marching band, and DJing her university radio station.* She even taught/choreographed aerobics for 4 years. Her choreographer-enhanced background coupled with growing up as a daughter of a jazz drummer have produced a rhythm-centric sound. Her DJ sets are characterized by provocative minor chord electro-jazz syncopated melodies paired with many different driving and rolling rhythms. These rhythms feature a wide range of interesting percussion elements with her signature "boogie attitude". Her sets aim to pull you onto the dance floor for a journey into dancing nirvana. About Mossmoss: Mossmoss brings a breath of fresh air to a club scene that is usually bent on taking itself too seriously. Scottish born, Mattie Bowen has been essential in the growth of techno and actively inspires audiences through art visually and aurally. His pursuits all deeply exude a level of class, compassion, and charisma. His own breed of minimal techno born from the bedrooms and studios of San Francisco offers a hint of a vast repertoire to come that inspires the mind and body simultaneously. Mossmoss was one of three artists featured on Race Car Productions Volume 1, their virgin effort. Since then he released an absolute powerhouse of a remix for Monocle's Dilleniidae which stole dancefloors the world over in 2007. With a wide open career in both art and music, and a new Ep on Alland Byallo's NLMX net label, Mossmoss will become a household name." Music: techno, minimal, house, tech house, acid, electro, disco
