Founded in February 2008, Killswitch is a weekly happy hour dedicated to featuring the Bay Area's finest underground techno and house talent. Founded by Stap[e DJ Javaight and Black Market Techno DJ dCOY, Killswitch has featured DJs such as Alland Byallo, Dave Aju, Jonah Sharp, Sutekh, Clint Stewart, Worthy, J.Phlip, Drumcell,Todd Sines and live PA's from Monocle, Auralism's Marc Smith, and Perla.* With the addition of new residents Mossmoss & David Siska, Killswitch has established itself as an end of the week hangout for heads, techno lovers and party people alike.* Kill off your week with the sound of the underground at Killswitch. This week at Killswitch: Christian Mora (Bang the Box), Fil Latorre (Stap[e), Mike Perry (Afterglow) & Mossmoss (Racecar/Nightlight)! About Christian Mora: Christian's story has only begun to be written. After getting his start in 1995, he began to make a name for himself by playing undergound parties, mantaining residencies, and organizing full-moon parties all across Mexico. After making the move to San Francisco in 2000, he started working at the now defunct Nemesis distributor, helping to service dance music stores across the states as well as his own store Crescent Records in Guadalajara. By melding house, tech house, techno and electro into his own signature blend, his good ear and taste for music has allowed him to DJ not only in Mexico, but Spain, Holland, Japan and the States. For the last couple of years, Christian as been playing club and underground events as a member of Bang The Box, alongside fellow San Franciscans Solar, Lance DeSardi, and Guada. Previous Bang The Box guests have included John Tejada, Dan Curtin, Jona, Dollz At Play, Alexkid, and Mr. C., with many more on the horizon. About Fil Latorre: Originally from Washington DC, and after years of playing at nightclubs and raves around the country and South America,* Fil Latorre settled in San Francisco in 1999, and shortly thereafter helped start the party known as Stap[e. Stap[e's focus has always been on deep, quality dance music, what Fil and partner David "dj Javaight" Javate call "Future house and Deep techno". Over the years, Stap[e has featured acts like Layo & Bushwacka!, Stacey Pullen, Kenny Larkin, Dan Bell, Jori Hulkonnen, Common Factor, Mark Ambrose, John Tejada and Alexi Delano, culminating in being awarded "Best House Night" by the SF Bay Guardian. Passionate about music all of his life, Fil currently works as an Audio Engineer, and has been working on his own production work, which he regularly plays in his DJ sets. About Mike Perry: After spending his formative years in Detroit soaking up the music and culture of his contemporaries, Mike packed up and headed West in search of something new. Having landed in San Francisco 7 years ago, he found exactly that. Upon his arrival, Mike met DJ Nikita and the two instantly hit it off and joined forces in multiple residencies and parties including: Nice (with Christian Bloch and Jason Kendig), 313 in the 415, Mechanix at Trax and Pow wow (a Thanksgiving celebration at the End Up), as well as numerous one off events in and around the city. Currently focused on Afterglow, a monthly dedicated to the chill and mellow side of electronic music, Mike's re-emergence into the scene began earlier this year. Punctuated by throwing one of the years best parties with Wolf + Lamb, Mike's re-emergence should be a welcome addition to the San Francisco Techno Revival as he brings his take on deep and minimal house and techno. Expect many more offerings from Mike as the year progresses well into 2010, including his new project as Fedora with Matt Wilder. About Mossmoss: Music is greatly influenced by geography and the case of Mossmoss is no different. Mossmoss' world began in chilly Scotland, however, he now lives and loves in beautiful San Francisco, California. Techno is a natural extension of his creative life as he has spent many years in close proximity to the grit of Detroit. Heavily influenced by the grimy, sultry sounds of Detroit, Berlin and Chicago, he has taken that influence to the Bay Area and draws on The City and its colorful nightlife for inspiration. As a promoter for "Bang!" and RCP related events in Cincinnati, Mossmoss mixed his passion for techno with art and pushed himself to the forefront of the local music scene. Experienced in guest and headlining spots in the Midwest, Mossmoss has his mind set to conquer San Francisco and beyond. Mossmoss was one of three artists featured on RaceCarProductions Volume 1, their virgin effort in 2006. Since then he has released a solid remix for Monocle's "Dilleniidae" which stole dancefloors the world over in 2007, receiving play and charting (beatport) from Drumcode's Kyle Geiger and Klectik's Sassmouth. After a hiatus he is back, more confident and eager than ever. Music: techno, minimal, house, tech house, acid, electro, disco
