Guest nickjunkie
What do you think of the fact that Tony Guerra is running for commissioner? Does he have enough experience in local issues? Can he represent nightlife in the commission?
Guest coach
To be honest, I'd pretty much vote for any nightlifer who ran for the city gov't. I'm glad I just got my voter reg card. Just tell me when and where.
Guest pod
Nick made a valid point to me on Friday. A lot of people in nightlife are not citizens of Miami Beach, or citizens of the US, therefore, they are not able to vote. I don't live on the beach, I live on Biscayne Boulevard, I'd love to vote for him, but I can't...

Guest pod
Yep My only concern so far stems from Tony's interview today in the Street, where he states that he is opposed to the Baylink project as a rail system. He mentions that he would like to see a link between the beach and downtown, but not rail-wise...he's kind of vague on this issue, really...i'm not sure if he's against a San-Francisco style trolley, or a Mover-sytle elevated system...But his tone seems to reflect the current insular nature of South Beach. Like it or not, the beach is part of the rest of the world...
Guest nickjunkie
Yeah I saw that piece, and it wasn't really too much of an insight. I think Tony's a great guy, and I think he could do great things for Miami Beach, but he needs to start talking about all the issues if he's going to persuade the voters.I know I sound like a broken record, but the majority of nightlife people eihter aren't eligible to vote, or aren't from the beach. Don't base the whole campaign on them...
Artemis1414777738
I am just getting caught up on things around here.... Since I am on the beach, does he have a site or somewhere to read up on his views?EDIT: Never mind. I just thought about the current commissioners.... he's got my vote!
