If you get a chance.. it's a must that you go pick up an issue of this month's Loft Magazine at a local newstand anywhere in Sobe or across Miami. This issue might as well be titled the dj issue, being that it incorporates soo much of the dance industry's biggest talents, upcoming & breakthru djs. Two of the industry's best (Murk) represent our Mia. in damn good dance fashion! I had to type this article myself off the mag onto this post cuz I couldn't find it anywhere on the net. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Oh & BIGGEST PROPS TO Oscar & Ralph! ;)

See article b-low:

Murk is made up of Miami Djs Oscar G (for Gaetan) & Ralph Falcon. It’s been over a decade since this pair of Cuban American 30-somethings first holed up in a Hialeah studio to record house music with a trunk-load of cumbersome analog equipment. Since then, they’ve logged a score of hit tribal dance tracks – including the anthem “Dark Beat†– under a variety of quasi-cosmic monikers. Name-calling: At times they’re the Funky Green Dogs, on other recordings they stamp themselves the Coral Way Chiefs, after a local school mascot. “At first the names were a way of trying to fool people into thinking there were a lot of artists coming out of our home studio,†admits Oscar. Falcon nods in agreement, a lazy smile spreading on his face. Other times the name-play poked fun at the absurdly lofty titles some obviously amateur Djs use. The array of recording titles, including Dynamo Electrix, El Guajiro, Interceptor and Intruder, reveals the humor that has cemented the pair’s nearly life-long professional relationship. Headphones: Perhaps no other internationally recognized DJ/producers will be as likely to count Cuban folklorist musicians Los Muñequitos de Matanzas among their top sources of inspiration. It’s the first group Oscar mentions when asked what he’s been listening to. Props: Last month Murk stunned themselves and their fans by taking home the prize for Best Producer at the DanceStar USA music awards show at Bayfront Park. The pair subsequently took over the turntables at Mynt for an afterparty with no apparent end in sight, until police politely reminded revelers that it was time to go home.

Wow I never knew these boys were originally from Hialeah. Hell yeah good way to represent guys. But I do agree Ralph Falcon needs to come out of the shadow of Oscar G. Way more people come out to support Oscar then they do Ralph for example look at his Maze resident days. Good job in pointing this out Bizz. Keep them coming!

couldn't agree more !!!, went to Maze for Ralph Falcon and I think it was me and 3 other people, it's what I've been saying all along, we need to support better. alot of people go for the venue not the music, few dj's have a real following here (except maybe Oscar G or Edgar V)

that whole LOFT magazine coverage of djs was good....the pictorial and the blurbs were very nicely done...

that wasn't an article, it was a fluff piece..

give me 10 mins in a room with murk, and they'll beg to leave with my hard hitting questions i'd ask them. Too many mags do fluff pieces, and none do any real hard hitting articles..

This article was Larry King

I'd be Mr Oreilly!

lol, he crushes every anchor in cable, and as for the networks, they are more dilluted everyday, and fox doesn't have a network news team, like the big 3... And he was on network tv, and left it to do news analysis, un like Copple who stayed on and got murdered..

Bill aint no punisher.......he is a Rush Limbaugh at best, and he better hope no dirt gets out on him (like poor Rush).

and back to my point Fox wishes they had the status of ABC or NBC anchors.......

what??? all the network anchors do is recite what the producers tell them to say. its not journalism. as saleen said, Bill O reilly crushes the competition in ratings. FOX is number one in cable news. and compared to all shows on all of the 24 hour news networks he is highest. thats what counts. O reilly put FOX ahead of CNN and its been that way since.

he is not anchor. there is a difference.

Biz thanks for the heads up on the magazine. Went to get a coke icee by mi casa a while ago and was goin to take a look at it at the store but saw it had a piece on Haiti so just bought it. Some good photgraphs from there, though article is a bit weak but like the guy said "anyone who is not haitian can never really completely understand the country" so guess he off the hook. He was 100% right about Aristide though.

Again thanks for the info and was a good piece they had on the djs. Nice magazine.

I picked up the mag over the weekend & noticed that article, but haven't got to readin' the yet. First thing that caught my eye was Murk, Sander, etc. Gonna look into the Haiti feature now that you mentioned it.

Biz, i see a lotta upcoming events at space but where is the roly marathon session? That is the one time I ever stay up till at least 8 at space. Other then that my weak ass is home by 5-6 max.

By the way, the article was no good but pics were good. No way that guy could ever do anything down there like that.

for a local print magazine, i thought they did a respectable job covering djs and more importantly local producers (though i wish they had also written about other locals such as Stryke, Austin Leeds, etc)....
