Long-time film composer Jerry Goldsmith died in his sleep. He was 75 years old. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the name, I'm sure you've heard his scores for the Star Trek movies, Poltergeist, Planet of the Apes, The Omen, and Alien. He composed a chilling score for Alien. These are only a few of his wonderful contributions to the industry. He was noninated for 17 Academy Awards, and won it for his powerful score from The Omen.

Hats off to Mr. Goldsmith! and I thank him for so many moving scores for so many great movies. ;)

yes, he was great. I download scores all the time. Though I like the more cheesy stuff from Hans Zimmer.

Zimmer is the best out there imo. (i like to pay attention to soundtracks) he combines classical instrumentation with synthesizers. not like a james horner, who is mainly wind instruments...

"the rock" and "crimson tide" both had great scores.
