Debates are a sham

Libertarian candidate for president arrested outside of last night's debate along with Green candidate.

The CPD limits the debates to the "two-party" system ever since Ross Perot shook things up in 1996.

I'm a bit tipsy right now, but I am going to tell you people the godawful truth of the matter.

Bush and Kerry both are morons and deserve to be dropped in a burlap sack and beaten with a baseball bat. I don't care if the American version of the Praetorian Guard comes to arrest me, but both candidates need to be seriously beaten. Oh, and they should both bear in mind that eventually the Praetorians turned on the Roman Emperors for being total fuckwads.

How in the name of whatever diety did we let ourselves get to the point where we are deciding between a chimp and a horse's ass to lead this country? The only sensible leaders of this nation are being arrested and silenced. Wonderful, I can see Bush using the US Constitution as a piece of toilet paper, and Kerry using it to wipe his dick off after a rousing jack-off session over some gay porn. Nevermind the fact that his daughter decided to do a PR stunt by being the Ocean Drive covergirl. She looks like her father with heavy Photoshopping.

(BTW, if you picked up the graffitied copy of OD at Cafeteria, that was me! )

Come November, either way, we're fucked.

Now I have to ask. Why do you limit yourself to Democrat or Republican? I'm not being critical, but just asking a serious question. There are innumerable political movments out there with the juice to field a presidential candidate, why limit yourself to Curious George, and Frankenstein's Monster?

Discuss! Oh, and if you have a "real" candidate in mind, mention him or her, just so we can all see what they are about.

Seriously. This is a grave incident, representing the total sham that the United State Government has become.

I want to see the day when the elections become this field of like fifty candidates, all arguing in this great royal rumble of debates, rather than the staged crap that we deal with these days.

Badnarik was just in Miami, and was denied access to the debate grounds here, as well.

That's always been the biggest issue about this country. Why is is that being this one of the biggest nations in the world, and having one of the largest population in the planet, every 4 years there are only 2 options???? I mean, Ross perot has been the only 3rd candidate that some of the population actually considered for President. There aren't only 2 ways of thinking, there are millions, so how come is alwyas the same?

In the end to me it's just the Democrates and Republicans handing the country to each other every 4 or 8 years, without ever letting anyone else try to do something about it. it's just the phenomenon of countries like Venezuela, where the population grew tired of the same two old parties , and elected a nutcase. It's definitely an extreme comparison, but I think I make my point.

I agree, pod. There should be more than two parties that matter. I'm conservative on some issues and liberal on others. Anyone who sides with a party before they have even heard the issue is a robot and a fuckin' idiot.

They were trying to show up to serve the papers which would allow them access to the grounds, and were stopped and arrested on this, apparently.

Still the debates are a sham. Why do we limit ourselves to two (very bad I might add) parties?

ones an idiot, the other is a douchebag. thats where we are.

on the debate topic, they have been a sham for the last 30 years or so, which was when the parties started sponsoring them themselves and eliminated the true "debate" aspect.

AMEN..... and the reason why we limit ourselves is because with our current goverment and general mentality, it easy to influence small minded people who can't think for themselves and who believe everything they're told (like robots) as a hard truth .... perfect example ....... faleen

I hear you loud and clear. This annoying "race to the center" is stupid. I strongly believe that both parties are there to simply maintain an economic equilibrium for "the man" - not allowing either fringe to have a seat at the table.

Canada was great - we had 2-5 real parties in elections...it's great, and while they don't always get a ton of votes, they keep everyone honest. Sometimes when people get pissed off enough, they even get elected. You gotta control it somehow, but surely you should have Ralph Nader types on the stage in these debates.

As for the clown-show. Unfortunately, I think the media pretty much weeds out interesting candidates, leaving only the ones that are least offensive and least vulnerable to media attack and scrutiny.

Nothing will change. Either one is the same.
