I like Space alot, but it definetly is becoming too "repetitive" in terms of the talent they are bringing in .. y always the same 5-6 guest dj's ??

...this cycle of the same dj's over and over has been getting stale .

next comes ...Cattaneo , then BadBoyBill then Roger Sanchez ::)

I guess that's because they happen to be quarterly residents. According to their website, they have nine quarterly residents (technically not guest dj's), so naturally we're going to see these same guys every three months.

Understandable...........but space still needs some "new blood ".....

dave seaman - nominally affiliated with crobar

paolo mojo - good DJ, but can he handle any of the rooms there?

Eddie Halliwell - possibly...

Black Strobe - I know something you don't

Lee Burridge - Love the guy, but he caused a firedrill at Spin, so that left a bad taste...i

Steve Lawler - Free agent of sorts right now...

Lexicon Avenue - they'd have to be with a 'name'...

Adam Freeland - good DJ, but I smell a firedrill if he plays Space...

James Zabiela - nominally affiliated with crobar

James Holden - have to be with a 'name' at Space...

Filterheadz - i hear crickets in Space that night

G Pal - see above

Miss Kitten - see above...besides, she plays I/O sometimes.

I'm not saying it to be an ass, but the reality of the situation is that the main room at Space is a difficult room to master. A lot of guest DJs I've chatted with say that their first time out in that room is nerve-wracking, though once they hit it, they hit it hardcore.

Ivan Smagghe playin the Radio1 party? :)

How about....

Villalobos

Richie Hawtin

Sven Vath

Carl Cox

Digweed

Timo Maas

Tall Paul

Infected Mushroom

Infusion

Hallucinogen

U.N.K.L.E.

Sandy Rivera

Doc Martin

Derrick Carter

If some of these can't hold down the main room, then it's not because they're not good enough, it's that the main room has stifled itself into a static space.

Villalobos - no one here knows him, pair with a 'name'

Richie - tough one...hard to say really.

Sven - see above

Carl Cox - done it before to Space, did it well. Expensive.

Digweed - crobar

Timo Maas - going from one place to another

Tall Paul - Tall Paul Live at Space ring a bell?

Infected Mushroom - Mansion

Infusion - They could do it.

Hallucinogen - That'll get you kicked out of Space.

UNKLE - 2 people showed up for his last SFL gig...

Sandy Rivera - maybe upstars

Doc Martin - crobar

Derrick Carter - don't see it at Space

the main room hasn't stifled itself really, like anything, the real world of booking a DJ is a combination of scheduling, market forces, politics, previous gigs in the area, alliances and money.

Just because there's a hole in the DJs schedule doesn't mean they are free. Like anyone, they want to enjoy the fruits of their labor. Hell, if had the cash that John Digweed had, I'd tell the world to piss off for a month each year.

Why don't we just come out and say that if your not a "name" DJ, you probably have to play some sort of Progressive, Tribal, Dark House for the main room. Most of the DJ's here play at huge venues across the US and Europe with no problem. It's the way Space Main Room is. We just have to live with it. My opinion of course.

Richie and Ricardo would work , but I don't see it happening in Miami for another few years.

Sven go see him at WMC

I'd really like to see Desyn try to hold down that main room now .. I know he could do it and I think people would be quite surprsied what you can get away with in that room.

I think the really chunky electro sound could work so like Blackstrobe would do well.

It isn't the sound though, it is the marketability. Blackstrobe is great, but they aren't known yet over here. Conference will probably change that for them...
