BobbyTrendy
So if a car is lighter and as a result would get better gas mileage then why did she run low on fuel with 7 laps to go? Don't tell me that she doesn't know how to manage her fuel...She ran low on gas because she didn't pit when the rest of the field pitted... thus leaving her with low fuel.. that is why she didn't floor it to blow past weldon - if she did, and the car ran at 100% fuel power, she would have ran out of gas... Guest tres-b
DP had a shot to win the race if 1-she didnt stall in the pits and 2-avoided the spin. The reality is she was lucky that her car didnt get destroyed when it spun. Having said that, she was racy all day long. It is one thing to be fast and another thing to be a racer. Danica is both and is on a team that knows what it takes to win. She has what it takes to win races and most likely will win the 500 in the next few years which is great for the sport. She didnt pit w/ the leaders on that caution b/c had she pitted she would have come back out too deep in the field to get back up front. She had to run lean on fuel and that meant lapping in the 221 range, not fast enough to hold off the hottest driver in IRL Dan Wheldon who was running at the richest fuel setting. Danica actually ran out of gas on the final lap. Had the last caution not come out, she would not have ended up 12th or 13th, but this is what racing is all about.Women cant do a lot of things physically that men can(play O line the NFL, drive the ball 325yds in golf, go to the rack like D Wade, etc.). However, they can compete on even ground in some motorsports. I say some b/c F1 is just too physically demanding(if you dont think so go check the G forces in F1 and then get back to me) but IRL, Nascar(joke of the racing world but whatever), CART, and in Touring Car/American Le Mans series races women can win.Danica is great for the IRL and women in general. And yes, her weight(or lack thereof is an advantage in fuel consumption and speed). This isnt even a debate. Just watch an F1 race and see how lap times drop as the fuel is used.
