all4tribal1414779019
That's the exact location of Hurricane Charley when he all of a sudden went east thru north of Naples/Sarasota area thru the bay into Central Florida.
CrzyC1414779017
Thanks for asking. I talked to them this morning. My mom was running around trying to wash as many clothes as possible before the power goes out. I think they are just going to try to move further inland as most hotels are booked anyway. And they would probably get stuck in traffic like this. What also sucks is that my mom has to use an oxygen tank at night that runs on power. :-\

CrzyC1414779017
The bridges are fine but the actual beach is pretty much wiped flat. Even with Cindy they had water over the roads from Gulf to Sound.

Guest Slide On The Ice
CrzyC, by inland, are they going to head toward Georgia or as far east as they can go within Florida? The storm has a wide swath to avoid, and just moving inland unless they head further east won't do enough good. I'm sure your dad has realized that already. Has your mom spoken to her doctor about what she can do about her breathing aparatus, or a hospital about staying there overnight since she has a genuine medical need? Hospitals in Florida are sturdy and reinforced from within and overhead, and with hurrican safe windows, so she'd be safer there than anywhere else in the storm's path. all4tribal1414779019
At 10:30 a.m. EDT, Hurricane Dennis' maximum sustained winds remained at 140 mph. Thus, Dennis is still an extremely dangerous Category 4 storm. It continues to charge toward the north to north-northwest at 18 mph and seems destined to thunder ashore somewhere between Mobile, Ala., and Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., late this afternoon. A recent jog in Dennis' course suggests a growing likelihood of a strike on the western portion of the Florida Panhandle. Destruction of coastal property in this region will be extensive. Water rise is expected to be in the 12- to 18-foot range; by now, all people should have evacuated low-lying areas. Buoys offshore are reporting waves in excess of 30 feet. This is insane

I am not on the claims side of things but what Acordia does is sells insurance for different companies...Travelers, poe, Chubb, Firemans Fund, etc and those companies handle their own claims. Many times the companies do have to hire public adjusters in addition to their own because there arent enough people to handle the volume of claims.
