Earthquake Kills 3,000 Across South Asia

Recommended Posts

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A powerful 7.6-magnitude earthquake near the Pakistan-India border Saturday reduced villages to rubble, triggered landslides and flattened an apartment building. More than 3,000 people were killed in both nations, and a Pakistan army spokesman called the devastation "a national tragedy." The toll included 250 girls who died when their school in northwestern Pakistan collapsed. Another 500 students were injured, said Ataullah Khan Wazir, police chief in the northwestern district of Mansehra.

You think that's bad? The BBC has dutifully reported that the UNU (United Nations University....lol, yes it actually exists) has predicted there will be 50 million "environmental refugees" within 5 years!! I don't know what's worse, the UNU for saying something so stupid or the BBC for actually reporting this crap. I'm not sure what the point of this article is, but it serves no real purpose for the public.
