I'm thinking San Diego might not be the best place to go for parties (I think that's Miami, actually), but it is a *really* nice town. Hit up the Gaslight district for dinner and drinks. There used to be this awesome BBQ place just up north of the convention center, can't remember the name, but ask around, everyone knows it.

If anything go to 'Aubergine'. It's a big club with a huge mix of music. There's not much of a scene in San Diego since after hours is illegal there! Good Luck. Drive to L.A instead and go out there.

S.D is nice to live in (and me and my family might end up there in the near future) but boring to party in unless you are into sailors since it's mainly a Navy town. The party scene in S.D (Gas lamp District) is like what you would find in Ft. Lauderdale.

---Unless you surf, don't expect much from San Diego. Everything's up in Los Angeles & Orange County. However, swing by the Gas Lamp district. I can't remember the exact street. However, just before you enter the district itself, there's a record store (yes, actual vinyl) & some other trendy shops that have your typical, local entertainment & gay-zines. These have all of the club & afterhours listings in them. Also, mega flyers in these shops for more info. If you can't find 'em, just scam the phone book for record stores & let your fingers do the walking. ;)

Isn't after hours illegal in San Diego and that's basically why the EDM scene there sucks ass!! That Gas Lamp district is just like going out in Lauderdale excpet they stop serving drinks at 2AM....LOL Might as well stay home!

Oh bring some water with you. SD is mucho dry! LOL :P

---Yes, afterhours are unlawful in San Diego but tolerated. The drinking laws are actually worse than you think. Last call begins at 1:30am & absolutely no drinks served past 1:45am. Personally, I think SD's nightscene sucks donkey balls!! Also, the Gas Lamp district is a joke!! If you're into the whole frat/soro/college/polos/coconut necklaces/chics wearing purses in clubs scene than it's all you. Otherwise, stay far-far away from that place at night. Last time I was there, I was able to find some tolerable clubs & a few cool lounge/bar type places(ie:Lipgloss) that play some sweet house. You just have to do some research to find 'em.

That's exactly how it is in Seattle with drinking until 1:45. In some clubs if you have a drink in your hand pass 1:45 a bouncer will take it out of your hand and pour it in the trash. Afterhours however is tolerable in Seattle. In San Diego there's nothing to do afterhours unless you know of some cool as underground illegal break in type shit!

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.

Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?

Ron Burgundy: No. No.

Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.

Ron Burgundy: Agree to disagree.

You can't stay out to late in San Diego since everything shuts down at 2 AM!

It doesn't have a scene as such. Be cautious though, like Miami it's a little rough.

What???????

San Diego is not rough. On a scale of 1 - 10, Miami would probably be an 8 with San Diego being a 5.

As far as afterhours, there are a few places that stay open till 4 or 5, specially on President's Day weekend (but there's no Alcohol after 1:30, they literally take your drink away from you after that time). Aubergine for Miguel Migs is one.

Gaslamp Quarter on 5th Ave, Downtown San Diego is your best bet

Yeah Miami is twice as dangerous IMO than San Diego is. I hear that Aubergine place is somewhat decent.
