Guest pod
I'm not really big into metaphysical shit, but clubland might as well be replete with it. You can be cursed in clubland. As a DJ, promoter, or building even. The building at 1532 Washington Avenue, to veterans of this scene, will always be known as the home of Shadow Lounge. Just as 323 23rd Street will always be known as Groove Jet. You can't "uncurse" a building for as long as people who went to it realize it that it was a defining club are around. Because inevitably comparisons are drawn, and it "just ain't the same" any more.

It was a jewish temple when it was built. It had been converted to a club called Van Dome, which was pretty successful for a while. After they went belly up, it was a string of failed ventures.....SOB was one name.....I don't remember the others but there were a few. When I first saw it the inside had been done to look like an old Scottish Castle. It was really wierd. Everyone I spoke to said that the building was cursed. The location was cursed. The Jewish souls still haunted the place......whatever.The point is that there is no such thing as a cursed location. If you do something in there that resonates with people, it'll succeed. If The Opium Group took over the place, it would be a success like Set....another cursed location.
Guest pod
Maybe the Opium Group avoided the building because it's cursed? I've seen otherwise astute businesspeople totally pass on a place due to the club boogieman.
