While looking for ways to continue hearing fresh tunes, the Miami Beach born entrepreneur and Hotelier, launched a production company called Generic Soul. He soon began constructing highly respected underground parties all over South Florida. Moving to Dublin, Ireland in '95 broadened his world and upon his return in 1996, Jon launched Bliss Productions. The production company and fully-fledged label with major label distribution had a roster that rivaled the largest and most impressive UK Indy electronic/dance companies. Bliss initially grew in South Florida through shows at the Shadow Lounge with inaugural resident, Dave Seaman. The gigs quickly gathered momentum when Bliss moved to Groovejet and let the brakes off. Dave played monthly alongside a host of guests. Among them, Jon Cowan launched his own DJ career with a surreptitious supporting slot."My first real gig was playing alongside one of the progressive forefathers on a Saturday night at Groovejet," laughs Jon. "How can you beat that? It was definitely a privilege and a learning experience, too."Bliss and Jon soon released Seman's Renaissance CD state side, a first for both Renaissance and Bliss. Since then, Jon has been invited to work alongside world class Dj's such as Deep Dish, Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa, John Digweed at venues like the Kitchen in Dublin, Dusseldorf's Tribehouse, Axis in Boston and Crobar.Next in the impressive musical resume comes as an owner as well as resident DJ at NERVE in South Beach. At the same time, Jon was also in charge of all music coordination and worked on the entertainment arm of the Shelborne Beach Resort. Shine was the brainchild of Cowan and Miami Host Gerry Kelly. The complex consisted of Poolside events, The Lounge, and club SHINE. The Shelborne is a Deco Landmark Building that was built by Jon's Grandfather in 1938. The history of entertainment at the Shelborne spans back to the 50's and 60's when people like Dionne Warwick, Jackie Mason, Sammy Davis Junior and many others were regular visitors to the Hotel. The reinventing of the Shelborne's historical past along with the opening of club Shine in 2005 brought the good reviews back to the Shelborne. The best sound in Miami Beach and The hub of the WMC in 2006 and 2007, were the accolades bestowed on the man and his hard work building the event arm at The Shelborne.Artists such as Dj/producer Jazzy Jeff, Satoshi Tomiie, Laurent Garnier, Mark Farina, David Morales, Victor Calderone, Jonathan Peters, Pacha Ibiza, Sander Kleinenberg and Godfather of House's Frankie Knuckles have played in the club, While the pool Side events which the Shelborne is most noted for has hosted parties from Paris Hilton, Victor Calderone, Jonathan Peters, and most recently Common with Biz Markie played the new White Pool Deck on March 30th for WMC08.SHINE @ The Shelborne - 1801 Collins Ave., South Beach, FL 33139 - Phone: (305) 531 1271 info line 305 3411455*******************************************************************DJ JUNIOR-0In the mid nineties, Junior O was part of a minority of NYC producers ushering a new sound in the world of dance music. This sound was equal parts techno, house, different and just plain funky. The sound attributed much to his background and his upbringing, being not only born but raised in NYC to Colombian parents. His output during this time was as varied as the labels he released and licensed his music to. Labels such as AV8/BMG, Narcotic, Strictly Rhythm, Yoshitoshi, Renaissance, React, NRK, and Defected UK all wanted their part of the Junior O sound. This propelled his demand as a DJ and Junior O soon found himself with residencies at D club in Switzerland, Roxy Club in Prague and rotating some of NYC and Miami’s premiere nightclubs such as Tunnel, Sound Factory Bar, Palladium, Sound Factory, Twilo and Salvation. In 2001, he moved to Miami, Florida and embarked on a new chapter in his life- sound design. However, it wasn’t long before his true calling returned when he came across the canonical self help book that has changed the lives of some of the most successful people in the 20th century, “The Master Key System†by Charles F. Hannel. Axiom Recordings was born out of this desire to align the mind, creativity, desire and positive energy with a like minded team of individuals all helping to realize the vision.Today, Junior O finds himself a resident DJ at the Shelborne Hotel, Miami with a slew of new upcoming releases on Axiom Recordings which can be found exclusively on Beatport. com.Continuing to push the limits of his sound, the next 12 months promise to be filled with an array of fresh new music coming out of Miami. These releases are sure to raise eye brows and perk interest until of course you find out it’s from an individual with a storied past in the world of House, Techno and realize he never really left.http://www.axiomrecordings.com*******************************************************************DJ MAJORTo his friends...Major is simply a charismatic fun-loving guy. Recognized and well respected in the South Beach community (thanks in part to his hectic schedule out and about supporting as many locals parties as he can), Major is also heralded as an accomplished DJ as well. Originally from the UK, Major successfully broke into the Tampa scene as a Trance DJ thanks to DJ Suzy Solar whom he met at the Union Jack show during the summer of ’99. Impressed with his innate ability, Suzy Solar invited Major to play at the Tampa Tobacco Club… a residency that lasted two glorious years! Major’s uplifting yet hard hitting vintage UK sound, helped garner him recognition among the Bay area locals. For instance in 1999, Major co-hosted a radio show on WTAN 1340 alongside DJ Luis from NYC. For seven hours, seven nights a week, Major became a household name amongst the underground dance music community in Tampa. Major soon earned himself various residencies in the Tampa Bay area at such clubs as: Liquid Blue, Pleasure Dome, LivingRoom and Marz. Delving into the business side of the music industry, Major soon began to host and promote his own nights at such intimate Tampa venues as B.O.W., Club Plush, The Mix at Velvet (Ybor City) and The Hyde Away. The Tampa Bay area was only the beginning for this bourgeoning talent.Invited to play his tunes on the globally recognized Trance Domain (http://www.trancedomain. com), in early/mid 2002, Major soon had garnered a worldwide audience. Musically, Major’s style has progressed over the years. Starting out with more UK hard house and Trance, he soon found his niche with a more progressive and deeper sound. Described by many as a “deep atmospheric progressive sound laced with a fusion of forward thinking music fueled with emotion and intensity,†Major continues to incorporate new sounds into his DJ sets in tune with what is “hot†in the underground dance music scene. Of course, every DJ has his/her fair share of influences…Major is no exception. From Tony de Vit, Lisa Lashes, Sasha and Digweed, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman and Paul Oakenfold, Major’s influences are as diverse as his musical stylings over the years. In face, Major has had the distinction of opening for Paul Oakenfold himself a few years back! Since making the move down South to Miami, Major has played at such venues as: Joia, Nerve, Club NV, Blue, State, Cafeteria, Shine, Amika, and Karu-Y to name a few.During the past few years at the Winter Music Conference, he has also had the honor of playing alongside hundreds of the world’s top DJ’s at the world renowned Ultra Music Festival. With a plethora of gigs already in the works for 2008, be on the lookout for Major at a club near you!*************************************************************
