back2basics- Posted May 25 Report Share Posted May 25 In August, up to 10,000 pilgrims from around the globe will gather in the intensely beautiful Amazon rainforest for a ground-breaking dance phenomenon called Ecosystem 1.0 Organised by NY & Brazilian promoter, Liquid Sky, supported by Knowledge magazine and sponsored by Greepeace, the objective of Ecosystem 1.0 is to create an environmentally-friendly event to raise awareness for Greenpeace and other non-goverment organsisations that support the protection of the environment, local populations and indigineous people ... ... Between 5000 and 10,000 visitors are expected at Ecosystem, which will feature the talents of top electronic artists from all over the world. Confirmed acts so far include DJ Craze, Afrika Bambaata, Lamb, JJ Frost, Mixmaster Morris, Bryan Gee, Mad Professor, Randall, Kenny Ken, Simon 'Bassline' Smith and Zion-I, with Moby, Groove Armada, A Guy Called Gerald, Armand Van Helden, Grooverider, DJ Krush and DJ Trace to be confirmed. Event promoter, DJ Soulslinger, said 'The environment is an intergrated part of the new generation and this generation has chosen electronic music as it's soundtrack. Greenpeace will help us to point out some paths for this generation ... '... Organisers of Ecosystem 0.1 are going to the greatest lengths to ensure that the event will treat the fragile Amazonian ecosystem with the utmost respect. Eco-friendly technology such as solar panels and biologic sewage treatment will be used, rubbish will be recycled, collective transport will be arranged and chemicals (ie. chloride) or Genetically modified foodstuffs will be avoided. Workshops and presentations from Amazonian locals will also be used to educate visitors on the ways of the rainforest. A spokesperson for Greenpeace Amazon said 'The event is to serve as a way of communicating how important it is to preserve the largest tropical forest in the world ...'Ecosystem 0.1 is scheduled to run between August 2nd - August 5th. Affordable tour packages ranging from camping to 5 star hotels will be available.
