gqbono3
OK. this place was horrible. Apparently this place is supposed to be really hot, the new LIFE. Ive even heard it been compared to studio 54. Yeah right. First of all, I dont know if it was just the night but I went there the sunday of memorial day weekend and it sucked. I know that they were having something there along with vinyl. Im not sure if it was curfew or what, but it was horrid. If your into that scene fine, thats great, keep it at vinyl. Spa totaly sold out that night. They were letting such trash into this place. Excuse me but I was under the impression that they had a dress code and that sweats, sneakers and a 3XL T shirt where not part of it. Also, they where just letting anyone in, with or without ID's. These fu*kin 17 year old vinyl punks in front of us managed to get themselves in without id's. Please, do they want to get their a** shut down once again like good old LIFE. The music was sooo bad and there where these annoying people running around with maraccas and cow bells. I wanted to kill them. Also the people who worked there where so grose. The bartenders and waiters where in freakin T shirts and jeans, gimmie a break. You know I just think that the whole night was ridiculouse. Feel free to write back if you have had better experiences there.------------------
Guest clubkid77
Vinyl is a club, and "curfew" as you called it, or Kurfew as it is... have NOTHING to do with each other. Kurfew is a young gay party and it has never been @ vinyl, nor would there be maracca's or cow bells involved. Originally posted by gqbono3:OK. this place was horrible. crossymaster
gqbono3, you sound like you're looking for somewhere a little pretensious, perhaps Cheetah, or Ohm would be more up you're alley. Centro-Fly too, and they're all so close you could check them all out. Centro fly is definately the best of the 3. But don't bash Vinyl because that other place sucked. Vinyl isn't for everyone, if you looking for a "scene" where everyone fits into a "club mold" Vinyl ain't for you. But if you're into the music, the dancing, and the DJ, Danny Teneglia, then Vinyl is the best place around.------------------B+A+C____________________B*REAL

Spitfire
I was at Spa a couple Thursdays ago and i had a great time. Very cool, mixed, attractive party crowd. The place is gorgeous. i wouldn't have even recognized the space from the Key Club/System days. I'd go back.

And to all you vinyl lovers who seem to have gotten a little ticked..I was not bashing Vinyl, or the people there (intentionaly) I have been to vinyl and honestly it was not so bad. My point is however, when I went there I dressed accordingly, and knew what to expect. When I go to a club where I expect something totaly different than the vinyl atmospher...thats what I want to experience. I was just a little let down that the night was not what I had expected. Guest clubkid77
DEAR GQBONO3 That is funy? Kurfew had something to do with the party? I highly doubt it...Go look at the Kurfew website and see if they mention any party @ SPA? I also know Jeff who owns and throws kurfew, and i am also a resident DJ FOR Kurfew so would have been either spinning at or invited with complimentary admission any even produced by or in association with kurfew.Someone sold you lies. JoelS
Spa was fucking amazing Sunday night. One of the best deep house French dj was there and he just put the club on fire.Spa is a club who catter to the stinking fucking shitty posh "I got money and I show it" dressed up not dancing crowd. I have absolutely no respect for someone who think he has to show his money with the shine on his boots and who has no respect for people like me who do not really want to do that. (Don't get me wrong, I dress a little trendy from time to time, but I do not want it to be required to dance.)Sunday night, John Davis, promoter of Body&Soul, Legends (rip) and Rockstar Loft parties organised the coming of wonderful French Dj, Dj Deep at Spa. On the flyer for this party, was clearly written: NO DRESS CODE! free shuttle from Body&Soul (I didn't take it, had to take a shower between the 2 clubs.)As I said, the usual crowd is the fucking high jet (low life), coke snorting, drinking, not dancing, corporate whores and penguins with ties. As I said I have respect for those people as long as they have respect for us. On this night we had the kind of mix I love, those corporate whores (other name for model) and penguins dancing together with brothers in baggy pants and xxl T-shirt, cute girls in leather pants, old school paradise garage headz and other cool mofos.Dj Deep gave us one of the most inspiring set I've ever heard: deep and soulful with a few classic disco elements, pumpin' and groovin', it was beautiful. For trance shit lovers, there was some cheesy bad music in the white room and they could get their groove on too.I've heard somewhere, that some of the fucking corporate penguins were a little bit puzzled that their space was taken off by the real house headz and cool clubbers. I guess to see that the brother with baggy pants and xxl T-shirt dance a thousand time better than you, penguin in tuxedo suit, must bother you a little. If you feel too unsecure to stay and get your groove on with us, just leave and let us dance.I think that on normal nights, spa must be an horrible place with just the REAL TRASH in it, generally I hate those place. Corporate whores belong to brothels, and fucking penguins with tie belong to elevators on wall street, when they go to clubs I try to avoid those clubs. Sometime when this crowd mix with the real headz, the vibe can be real good. Sunday night was one of this magical night.Since, there was no dress code this night, I made sure to wear baggy pants and orange T-Shirt and be able to dance my arse off!Gqbono3, I guess you understand that I am a little offended by your comment. I hope you will be a little offended by me calling you a penguin with tie who don't know how to dance. You want to keep our crowd at Vynil, you don't want to mix with us, I just answer FUCK SEGREGATION.I do want a mix of tuxedo suits people with baggy pants people. The best crowd is a mixed crowd.Spa can go back to its segregation habits now, we had a good time. Spa can go back to the real TRASH crowd, the one who is afraid to mix with people different than them, it will eventually close down because of cocaine bust.Peace, Love, Unity and Respect,Joël S Originally posted by gqbono3:OK. this place was horrible. Secondly you didnt insult me in the least. I cant stand those corporate, stuffy, sit and sip, Martini drinkin', wall streetl, suit and ties. Who the hell goes to a club in a suit and tie..gimmie a break. I know exactly who you are talking about..I am not one of them. Yes.. I do like to look good when I go out, and yes I do spend quite a lot of money on my outft and on the night in general, but i feal thats what one should do when going out.. i wear 1/2 that shit i seen on people to bed. But im not going to rank on people for their style any more, im getting tired of it. But for you to bitch about all these rich assholes who do nothin' but snort, sip and sit on their ass the whole night is just dumb. I dance my ass off when I go out, and yeah ok maybe what i like to dance to is a litte commercial, i admit it. That shit in the white room sunday night was absolutely horrid though. And you know what I dont do drugs, and most of the peopel I know at these clubs dont either, dont get me wrong.. there are PLENTY of druggies running around any club on any given night..and that includes Vinyl..as if you didnt realize. Please..maybe there not all on coke but can you say Vicaden, if thats even how you spell it, Zoloft, and yeah lets be real orig. and add in some E. Please I came across more prescriptions at Vinyl than I do at my grandmas house, and another thing ..I know a lot of different types of people. And some of them are the peopel who hang out at Vinyl, and you know what..there are not any better than anyone else..You all like to promote this drug free image and this love, unity, dance, feel the music and sprituality..and you know what that is cool and if it where true it would be even cooler. I dont know how it was or used to be..or if any of that shit was ever like that..but you know what I know for a fact that its not like that now, and if you truly think it is, try giving everyone your gettin so spiritual with a drug test. Youll find out its more about the mix of pharmasuticals rather than the music. So please dont get all ethical on my ass. Who the hell goes to a club in a suit and tie..gimmie a break. I know exactly who you Ok, my bad, I believed you were one of them, since they was a lot of those people in the club and I heard one of them complained about the "riff raff" they allowed to get in this club. So you are one of those wannabe trendy guy who dress at Bam Bam and Le Chateau, wear armani jeans and Kevin Cole shoes? are talking about..I am not one of them. Yes.. Once again, I believed you were one of them. I shouldn't trash the tuxedo suit people or the bam bam people or the ufo people. I should trash anyone, let him be a Vynil clubber, a Cheetah clubber, an Exit clubber etc... who wants to keep his place segregated, is afraid of people different from him, wants his door policy shit to be enforced. Are you one of them? You look like one of them. If you're not, I guess we may agree.Anyway, some of the tuxedo suit peeps and some of the baggy pants peeps stayed until the end and dance their arse off too.I dance my ass off when I go out, and yeah ok maybe what i like to dance to is a litte commercial, i admit it.Good for you, as long as you have fun, everything is good. That shit in the white room sunday night was absolutely horrid though.Oh yeah, it was. I don't know who it was. I've heard it was Jackie Christie, I believed she was better than that, can someone confirm? And you know what I dont do drugs, and most of the peopel I know at these clubs dont either, dont get me wrong.. there are PLENTY of druggies running around any club on any given night..and that includes Vinyl..as if you didnt realize.Please..maybe there not all on coke but can you say Vicaden, if thats even how you spell it, Zoloft, and yeah lets be real orig. and add in some E. Please I came across more prescriptions at Vinyl than I do at my grandmas house, and another thing ..Sure, Spa and Centro Fly peeps do alcool and coke, Vynil peeps do pot and E, Twilo is the exctasy mecca, Sound Factory is a giant K-Hole, the city hall or the house of congress in DC are full of heroine, drugs are everywhere, even at Body&Soul(less than in lots of other places, though).I know a lot of different types of people. And some of them are the peopel who hang out at Vinyl, and you know what..there are not any better than anyone else..You all like to promote this drug free image and this love, unity, dance, feel the music and sprituality..and you know what that is cool and if it where true it would be even cooler. The Vynil people may not be better, there are arseholes everywhere. I've heard some of the gay peeps from B&S complaining about too much ladies in the party. (Hopefully B&S is not a gay party and plenty of beautiful women are there) Some people are pissed when strangers to their world step in their club. But the staff at Vinyl is always courteous and respectful with their patrons. Only obviously drunk, drugged up or agressive casualties, or people way under age (under 18) are denied the entry at Vynil. Everybody, dressed up or dressed down, black or white, male or female is welcome in this place. You cannot say that about the staff at Centro Fly, Spa, Twilo or Sound Factroy. They're just a bunch or assholes with an attitude problem.Dance Ritual, Be Yourself, Shelter and Body&Soul are the best parties in NYC mainly because of their open policies (the first reason being the good music).I dont know how it was or used to be..or if any of that shit was ever like that..but you know what I know for a fact that its not like that now, and if you truly think it is, I don't know either, I wasn't here. Some people said me it was better. I beleive them. Clubs shut down because of the fachist mayor politics, cops everywhere, raid, racism and bouncers with an attitude at the entry of each clubs, etc... it wasn't there. But I've heard that there was much more drugs and as much or more violence. Studio 54 was certainly already one of these shitty, fachist door policy place, though.try giving everyone your gettin so spiritual with a drug test. Youll find out its more about the mix of pharmasuticals rather than the music. Not for my friends, not for me anymore. Anyway it wasn't my point. To each his own, even concerning the drugs. So please dont get all ethical on my ass. Thanx.Anyway, DJ Deep @ Spa Sunday night was fucking amasing because he's mix was beautiful and flawless, his selection of music was uplifting. From the time I got in (at 2am) till the time I left (at 5am) it was an uplifting experience. Also the mix of very different people, trendy clubbers, dancing black people, cute girls in leather pants, ravers etc... was amasingly good and added so much to the experience.Diversity is the key...Peace, Love, Unity and Respect... still.Joël S. ------------------
