sheesh =)

but my guess is it's "it's a fine day" by opus III

I never understood this Opus III thing. I bought the same song in Spain back in '92, only it was by Patty Wilson, same words and melody and everything. Is Opus III a project she later formed, or is Opus III a group that covered or remixed this track?

yeah it is a bit confusing i agree.

i own the vinyl that just says patty wilson "it's a fine day"

as well as the debut lp from opus iii with the same track.

i think it mighta been the case where she attempted to

release the track on her own, found some fellow electronic

producers and became part of what was to become opus iii.

just a guess tho.

to add to the confusion is the number of remixes of the song,

one (or more) of which is credited to orbital, who used samples

of "it's a fine day" in "halcyon on and on and on" which is

often confused as the same track... there's a remix of "it's

a fine day" floating around various mp3-sharing networks

crediting orbital for the remix... ODD to say the least.

in any case, it's a brilliant tune.

Finally, someone else knows of this Patty Wilson thing. When I used to live in Boston, people would be like "You gotta check out this track by Opus III"... and I'd be like "WTF are you talkin about? That's Patty Wilson and that song is old as shit"

They'd just look at me like I was crazy, but now I know I'm not :)

Thanks, hacker, for reassuring me of my sanity.

jeez, this is getting more complicated than i thought...

did more digging around (it's worth it for songs i looove)

and found out that "it's a fine day" is credited

to Miss Jane, aka Jane... as well as some artist

named "Barton"... from what i can tell jane and barton

co-op'ed to produce the track...

all this in addition to finally being covered - that's right

folks they didn't do the original - by opus iii.

I've got another name to throw in to add more confusion. My copy says:

Patty Wilson "It's A Fine Day"

written by Barton

produced by Severo Lombardoni

And like I said, I bought it back in '92, so now I'm back to being confused. But I'll go check out those urls you listed.
