gideonyago66
peeps. help the limelight out or it will close! This coming Tuesday, September 4th at 11:00AM there will be a hearing atthe State Liquor Authority and we need your support! As most of you are aware by now, we have purchased the Limelight along withour partners at XL! We cannot take possession of the premises until theState Liquor Authority transfers the license to us. We plan on a brand newsound system, new lights, air conditioning and a renovation of the club. You have seen what we've done with XL and we plan on doing the same withthe Limelight. This hearing is to give the community a chance to speak out for or againstgranting Limelight and John Blair a Liquor License.THE STATE LIQUOR AUTHORITY WANTS TO KNOW WHAT THE COMMUNITY THINKS. We needto show them WE are the majority on this community and that we want theLimelight to stay open under a responsible new management team! We're facing a very vocal minority that strongly opposes the Limelight. They're people who lived next door through the "bad days" of Limelight andwant the location shut down forever. This is why we're asking anyone who can attend this meeting to please helpshow the State Liquor Authority that you support us and the transfer of thelicenses. It will make the difference on wether the Limelight stays open oris closed for good! One by one our nightlife venues have been closed. We urge you to attendthis hearing and help us make sure this does NOT happen to Limelight! The meeting will be at: State Liquor Authority 11 Park Place - 7th Floor (between Broadway and Church St) TUESDAY, September 4th at 11:00amIf you can attend this meeting, please e-mail tripp@jblair.com or callTripp Zanetis at (212) 995-1400 ext 230. He will coordinate with you whatto do.We want to continue to bring quality events and venues to our community andthe NEW Limelight will be a perfect venue for it!We thank you for your continued support!John Blair & Beto Sutter
saigray
As many of us have day jobs that do not allow us time off to lobby for our nightlife rights, is there anyway we could offer a show of support without being there? I know it's less effective, but would letters be helpful at all, or is it really just a physcal showing that's needed?

ichi_gami
public hearings such as this are scheduled for mid-day on the first work day after a long weekend. It is as if there is an intent to keep public attendance to a minimum. Yet, if old Mr. Fucksack down the street wants a permit to fart, he is given primetime billing. I am trying to make arrangements to be there, but can't know for sure until tomorrow afternoon.ichi

az-tec
I think this meeting is imperative to NYC nightlife....The Limelight is a NYC landmark...yes.. I am biased, cause I worked there for the last year, but by doing that i learned about the history of the club and building from people that have been there since the beginning...We have already lost 2 of the best clubs ever in NYC..Twilo and Tunnel in the last 4 months...we cant afford to lose the Limelight....People come on....if you can, come to the meeting..I am going to do my best to make it there myself...-Andy

gothzane
First off....Ive always liked limelightfor the gigger room on S&M night.Secondly...it doesnt matter if they loose their liquor license because none of the bartenders can mix a decent drink to save their lives.Thirdly...id go more often if they changed the lighting system. Those hundred strobe lights are the most annoying fucking thing.one or two...alright i can dig that...but there has two be a shitload more then that.Besides all this bitchen...I hope limelight stays open. Its a valuable foundation of our culture."Know your boundries...then destroy them utterly." keough
Is there any other way to support then to go physically, if so what would the adress be for either e-mail or street.
keough
i used to talk to my high school in-school suspension teacher, about how he used to go to limelight, very funny hearing about it then when they made good money, but still, if people havent noticed, more clubs are closing then opening, that sucks, even if you go to a club once, and never go back there, at least dont be a jerk and just never go, and the worst thing that can happen is maybe you`ll geta different view on things? I'd think either using the number or the email address in the original post would be a better avenue for finding this informaiton out than posting on the thread would be...
