tribal
this was posted in the op ed section of NYtimes, for this monday, just thought it might help to read it.to the editor:im a high school sophomore, and ive been finding out what kind of people my friends are. one is fearful and has been driven to and from school instead of taking the subway. many are self-absorbed and narcissistic, and their biggest worry is that certain people havent called to check in on them. one friend is so loving and caring that she cried all day tuesday. all i wanted to do was tell her, as usual, that 'itll be ok', but this time, i couldnt promise her that. it was so hard to see her cry. all in all, i am trying to come out with a feeling that the world will actually be a better place because of this tragedy. its not worth the thousands of lives that were lost, but im hoping that people will be more thatkful or their own lives and more respectful to others.-emily rosen king , sept 16, 2001
