It does make you stop and think about it, though. Civilization seems to have started in the Middle East even before the earliest times of Babylon, yet those people still live in tents or shelters built from mud-bricks. Is it just cause they don't have the resources over there (other than oil) or do they just choose to live that way? I mean, America's only been a country for a couple hundred years, yet we were the first to land people on the moon. But people have lived in the Middle East for many thousands of years, yet they rely on resources that we provide them with in exchange for oil (and oil was discovered and utilized first by Western civililzation).
