I don't know everything.... but, I do know that there are 3 diseases that are uncurable: HIV, Herpes, and Genital Warts. All the other diseases can be cured, but they can cause infertility if they're not caught (especially in women) so you should be checked out frequently if you're sexually active and not monogamous. http://www.unspeakable.com/std-index.html has a lot of info about STD's. It is actually a lot easier to get Herpes or Genital Warts then HIV. The risk of HIV transmission through vaginal intercourse, if you do NOT use condoms, and your partner IS hiv+ has been estimated at between 1 in 500, and 1 in several 1000, if there are no cuts, sores, or other STD's present.This study estimates it at 1 in 1000 from male to female, and says it is 8 times less likely from female to male:http://www.ucsf.edu/daybreak/1997/08/826_aids.htmSo if you use condoms, and don't have at risk partners, or do anal, it sounds pretty hard to get HIV. However I think the risk of Herpes or Genital Warts is much higher.Anyway, everyone should ALWAYS USE CONDOMS, and girls should be on the pill/norplant/depraprovera for the extra safety.
