MUGZ, What the HELL IS THIS "NORTEC" Music u keep hyping?..(Please explain!)

Recommended Posts

Just poking around and saw this NORTEC thread and thought I would invite myself into the discussion here.

NORTEC is a fusion of "norteno" music (kinda sorta tex-mex) and elctronic music. Pretty big out in Cali, and definitily pretty big out in Tijuana where most of these dudes are from.

Most of the members in Nortec also form part of other groups or bands.

In general theyre pretty good, although a lot of people in Mexico (besides major border cities like Tijuana and Juarez) dont know what Nortec is even if their life depended on it. Us Mexicanos still have a lot to learn.

:D :D

NORTEC : A new breed of music that mixes traditional Mexican norteño

and tambora riffs on the accordion, tuba and drums with electronica.

In the two years since nortec was born, it has become the dominant

sound of Tijuana's cool set. But in the same way that rock 'n' roll

is more than just the sum of a few chords,

nortec has expanded well beyond some creative

samples and a break beat.
