MUGZ speaks to the Dalai Lama (a message to all u board headz)

Recommended Posts

Mugz recently spent some days with His Holiness the Dalai Lama focusing on what he believed were the five most important questions to be considered while moving into the new millennium. The five questions he settled on were:

1. How do we address the widening gap between rich and poor?

2. How do we protect the earth?

3. How do we educate our children?

4. How do we help Tibet and other oppressed countries and peoples of

The world?

5. How do we bring spirituality--deep caring for one another--through

all disciplines of life?

The Dalai Lama said all of the five questions fall under the last

one.

If we have true compassion in our hearts then our children will be

educated wisely, we will care for the earth, those who "have not" will

be cared for.

Then the mugwump asked the Dalai Lama,

"Do you think loving on the

Planet is increasing or staying the same?"

His response:

"My experience leads me to believe that love IS increasing."

He shared a simple practice with mugz that will increase loving and

compassion in the world.

He asked him to return home

and share it with as many people as they can.

ThePractice:

1. Spend 5 minutes at the beginning of each day remembering that we all

want the same things--to be happy and be loved, and we are all connected to one another.

2. Spend 5 minutes: breathing in, cherish yourself; and breathing

out, cherish others. If you think about people you have difficulty

cherishing, extend your cherishing to them anyway. (You can think of cherishing as loving, appreciating, valuing, honoring, etc.)

3. During the day extend that attitude to everyone you meet. Practice cherishing the simplest person such as clerks, attendants, etc. as well as the "important" people in your life. Cherish the people you love and the people you dislike.

4. Continue this practice no matter what happens or what anyone

does to you.

thought you might appreciate these thoughts. I find them very simple, inspiring and helpful. I also find the practice of cherishing can be taken very deep if done wordlessly, just allow yourself to feel the love and appreciation that is already there in your heart.

find me a mustard color robe and you can call me the enlightened one.

"Tibet has too many nasty smelly goats" - so that's where keshiki disappeared to.

sorry, didn't mean to belittle the positive and spiritual message of your post, mugz, but the journey to enlightenment requires good humored legs. ;)

I can honestly say that buying the book, The Art of Happiness, was something that changed my life a few years ago.

I recommend anyone who is having any confusion or is going through some hard times go buy this book and read it carefully.

what a beautiful man..

what wisdom..

I just started reading this book tonight..

It's just what I needed..

~"YOU SEE, THE PAST IS PAST

and the future is yet to come.

That means the future is in your hands-the future

entirely depends on the present. That realization

gives you a great responsibility."

There are some monks down by 31st at Park Ave South. When I was working in that area last year, I spent one lunch hour watching them do their sand art. I had to watch from the doorway, though, since they wouldn't let me in wearing my paratrooper boots.

Z you are the ultimate example

of what the Dalia Lama writes about:

You are onee of the most possitive

people I know in the season..

you never talk bad about people,

and you always give without asking for anything

in return..

YOU DON'T NEED TO REMEMBER ANY

THING IN THAT BOOK MAN..

you already walk that path without knowing it!

*************

Jenny,

To your comments I believe the Dalia Lama would reply:

"He who's but smells worse than his/her masters breath

should understand that they are equal in steanch and therefore

love each other!"

or something like that........

(silly pooch)

okay, the cynic speaks:

the problem with these books...rather, the problem with us (uh oh, here i go again..."us" as in creatures of mood) in reading these books is that we will initially catch the profoundness in those written words and try to apply them to our daily lives for the first month (at most), while at the same time preach & recommend them to our friends. but ultimately, all that will pass and we revert back to our usual selves, as if it was something distant and far-fetched.

and then, every once in awhile, a particular event will take place that triggers our memory of having read something profound, the words & ideas creep back into our heads, and the cycle repeats.

In my opinion all we are

is an acumilation of experiences..

We shape ourselfs from everything around us..

If our cups are filled to the brim with

NEGATIVE thoughts, ideas and dark

inspiration

how can we give anything back that is

Positive..

If we taste from the fruits

of great wisdom and reflect

on how it applies to the life

you already live..

..there is no need to REVERT!

It has already infected your

subconsciouse mind..

and it's like a seed that

in time can blossom.

IN THE END IT IS ONLY THE

EXPERIENCES THAT SHAPE YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL..

(no book can truely do that for you)

But inspiration is like a light

that sheds illumination

on "possibilities"..

It really is up to the individual

how much you soak in..
