And We Ask WHY?

And We Ask WHY?

The Truth on National TV Billy Graham's daughter was being

interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her

"How could God let something like this happen?" And Anne

Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response.

She said, "I believe that God is deeply saddened by this,

just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get

out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get

out of our lives. And being the gentleman that He is, I

believe that He has calmly backed out. How can we expect

God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand

that He leave us alone?"

Let's see, I think it started when Madeline Murray O'Hare

(she was murdered, her body was found recently)

complained she didn't want any prayer in our schools, and

we said OK.

Then, someone said you better not read the Bible in

school... the Bible that says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt

not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said,

OK.

Then, Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our

children when they misbehave because their little

personalities would be warped and we might damage their

self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide) And we

said, an expert should know what he's talking about so we

said OK.

Then, someone said teachers and principals better not

discipline our children when they misbehave. And the school

administrators said no faculty member in this school better

touch a student when they misbehave because we don't

want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued

(There's big difference between disciplining and touching,

beating, smacking, humiliating, kicking, etc.) And we said,

OK.

Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if

they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents.

And we said, OK.

Then some wise school board member said, since boys will

be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our

sons all the condoms they want, so they can have all the

fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they

got them at school. And we said, OK.

Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter

what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. And

agreeing with them, we said it doesn't matter to me what

anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I

have a job and the economy is good.

And then someone said let's print magazines with pictures

of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth

appreciation for the beauty of the female body. And we said,

OK.

And then the entertainment industry said, let's make TV

shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and

illicit sex. And let's record music that encourages rape,

drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes.

And we said it's just entertainment, it has no adverse effect,

and nobody

takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead.

Now we're asking ourselves why some people have no

conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why

it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates,

and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can

figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP

WHAT WE SOW."

"Dear God, Why didn't you save the little girl killed in her

classroom?" Sincerely, Concerned Student... AND THE REPLY

"Dear Concerned Student, I am not allowed in schools".

Sincerely, God.

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then

wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe

what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how everyone wants to go to heaven provided they do

not have to believe, think, say, or do anything the Bible

says.

Funny how someone can say "I believe in God" but still

follow Satan who, by the way, also "believes" in God. Funny

how we are quick to judge but not to be judged. Funny how

you can send a thousand 'jokes' through e-mail and they

spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages

regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how the lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene pass freely

through cyberspace, but the public discussion of God is

suppressed in the school and workplace.

Funny how someone can be so fired up for Christ on Sunday,

but be an invisible Christian the rest of the week.

Are you laughing?

Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will

not send it to many on your address list because you're not

sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for

sending it to them. Funny how I can be more

worried about what other people think of me than what God

thinks of me.

Are you thinking?

doesnt the bible contradict itself?

isnt the bible anti-woman?

isnt the bible anti-homosexual?

hasn't the "teachings" of christianity inspired massive intercontinental wars?

and i wonder if this woman has an interest-bearing bank account and or stock, because thats a sin too......

or if she pays taxes....thats a sin too (sustaining the military....my former speech teacher is a very religious protestant who studied the bible in depth)

i'm not saying that i dont beleive in God, i actually do beleive he/she/it exists

but the everloving and everforgiving bullshit....i dont think so

Jerry Falwell lite

Or so it seemed to me.

Next time, ask her why nothing like this has happened in Europe and see what wisdom comes out of her.

yes it does.

only to the interpretationists.

only to the interpretationists.

and yes but only the blind-faith fanatics

who chose to ignore their doubt as

the core of their faith, and instead

force as many people as possible

to see things the way they do.

religion is the cause of all stability and all mayhem. think about it. the modern society is based on law, which were derived from the bible. this is one of the few positive sides of religion, besides the self inspiration and occasional benevolence. the ugly side is what we saw on sept 11, religious fanatisicim, not only muslim, but chritisian (crusades and inquistion), jewish(orthodox settlers), and hindu(tamil), the only religion that seems to be free of this cancer is buddhism, but im not an expert in that field. ms. graham seems to think that people are shutting out god from schools and homes. the fact is, people are tired of this godly beauracracy and are shutting out the church instead of the god. if a man believes in a divine force, why is there a need for Heaven Inc. with CEO Pope? seems rather ludicrous. thank the god that we dont have religion in our politics, the main factor of our profound stability. amen!

I have no problem with Christianity - or with Christ, for that matter. Actually, I'm a fan. In and of itself, Christianity (Christ) is brilliant, and offers tremendous wisdom - wisdom that IMO is lost on Ms. Graham.

I think Ms. Graham represents an extreme point of view (as does the entire post) that ultimately misinterprets the bible, and its message.

The church does not have a monopoly on morality, and school prayer is not the only way to teach our kids not to kill each other. Nor do I think God has deserted us because we've decided it's not a great idea to hit our kids (Dr. Spock), or to let our school teachers hit our kids, or concluded that masturbation might not be that bad, or that safe sex is smart, or that as a woman, I have a right to govern my own body, or or or...

I'm not sure Jesus would have a problem with these things. I think he might have a problem, however, with Ms. Graham's implication that he's somehow deserted us because "we asked him to" (which we haven't).

see, now you've dropped the science.

i didn't post this cause i necessarily

agreed with it in its entirely; i agreed with

it as i do many things -- with a grain of salt.

just thought it provided an interesting perspective...

(to me, anyways - you're all quite free to feel how you want.)

prayer in schools is flat-out not all allowed in schools.

that has nothing to do with religion or the church.

and i see shutting out the beauracracy and routine

of the church as a GOOD THING... but then don't

dare tell me when and where i can pray. prayer

is a very personal thing - or at least, it should be.

i cling tightly to the lutheran idea

that "church is wherever one person

is holding a conversation with god."

and it irks me that our government has

decided when and where i may do that.

I absolutely agree. Perhaps the God that Ms. Graham believes in is a vengeful, spiteful God. But the God I belive in is not.

Seems to me that she agrees with Jerry Fallwells statements that it is the faults of the homosexuals and abortionists that these terrible acts happened.

My thoughts to this.....

First of all this IS funny. I look at it this way. We fabricated math to do calculations inorder to help us do things in life. We prove math with math. Same is with religions. They try to prove religion with religion. Religion to me is like a college subject/major. People learn it and enforce it. Religion is more than math in a sense that people can always answer to an impossible question by saying "It's HIS will." I don't believe in religions. But I am living in an environment that is filled with many many different religions. I resect the religions. I just don't like it when people try to convert me into their religion.

I don't know if this Grahm person is the same that I saw once on TV. But when I did watch it, I was kinda laughing at their comments. I can't describe how provincial they were/are on TV. Its so weird to see that on TV. I don't understand how people follow the Book(s) to death.
