pod
Dave makes a valid point in the interview. A year ago, I had an editorial comment published in Mixer about the same thing coincidentally...Dave said to Sara... With so many people converging on Miami at the same time, its difficult to organized. But I think moving it from Spring Break wouldn’t be such a bad idea , there would be a bit more room on South Beach... My biggest hassle during WMC is dealing with a horde of underage, drunk college kids, who think WMC is just Daytona Beach or South Padre Island with "these DJs playing that electronica stuff" (actual quote). Underage being the key word since ID checks are very vicious during WMC, and these putzes more often than not get bounced. I always tell people I know who are underage and want to come down, that Miami is effectively a 21+ city...Most of the conference attendees agree, for the reasons above, and also the bouncers get very indiscriminate, not being able to tell who is a superstar DJ and who is some drunken lout of a college student. Yeah, I used to be a student, so I can say it's true, 80 percent of your average student's brainpower is usually focused on getting wasted. So I think WMC should be moved 2 weeks ahead to mid-April...call it the Spring Music Conference or something .
