mugwump
Nice topic bro..Here's my answer in a nutshell:HOUSE IS DISCO andTRANCE is a form of House (hybrid mix)and as long as people will wanna dance under a "DISCO BALL"non of it is going away.....Just shaping..re-aranging..and morphing with the times..It's all one giant Disco ball baby..Just with a different label with each new generation! I agree, it never dies off.... it just takes on different forms and progresses over time.
exgroove
i remember like 10 years ago when i was 17, 18 and going out every weekend i wondered how will house music change in the future. I couldnt imagine it changing from its deep nyc sound that was popular then. However, house is totally different now. I love the classic deep sound, but i also love the sound of 2001. So who knows where it can go from here. One thing is for sure, house is always evolving
fierydesire
I agree with everyone elses answer'sIt never really dies off just takes new forms. Plus I think that perhaps house and trance are much better than Disco..IMO]That could be cause I have grown up with them more than Disco
bigpoppanils
all things electronic owe themselves to discodonna summer's "i feel love" has often been credited as the first song to be created fully by computers (other than the vocal of course)
djmikedr
"House" will, and has always been an "underground" thing, thus will never go out.anything that becomes "commerical" has a shelf life.btw: certain key signature sounds of house do come and go, but again essentially it stays the same. DETROIT
For the last couple of years everyone has said that the breaks are gonna be the next "big thing". I just dont find it happening though.....They have been around too long and still have not cought on. Yes Jungle, D'N'B, 2-step, trip-hop, etc. all have their fans, but i just can't see any one or two of the breaks sub-genres becoming as mainstream as house/trance have.....Just My 2 cents.... mugwump
May I also add that for me there are multiple angles to electronica:"ELECTRONICA"Itself is an umbrella term.,..covering everything from:House,Trance,Jungle, gabber to Trip Hop, minimal ambient etc..etc..etc..What you refer to is"DANCE MUSIC"in electronica(also a term for many genres..)But the ideology of Dance music culture,i.e: The dance ritualfueled by the DJ owes EEEVERYTHINGto DISCO..If your question is:"What will happen to Trance and House" in the future then all I have to do is point to Europe..It's hit comercial status and CHEESED out many many years ago..The purity and novelity ofthe genre that the US finds in this soundis yesterdays news for London (for example)There are too many things happening in themusic scene right now to guess what will be thenext GREATEST THING since sliced bread..My vote goes withTWO STEPBREAKSand GARAGE..(All more hyped in Europe thesedays than the usual TRANCE and HOUSEnights NY finds so ground breaking)But my personal flavor of the month..and ULTIMATE SPICE OF ALL SPICE thatI believe will streatch ALL SOUNDS are BREAKS..and GLOBAL ELECTRONICA(Nortec, Japanese electro..& deep tech Breakbeats) I'm catching a wiff fromsources in far landsthat they are importing this spice to theselands..I'm waiting patiently!
